Any Pontiac Pure Stockers Interested in Racing at the 2011 POCI Convention?

Okay, I finally have some information for those who don't have plans or rooms yet. We are unofficially headquartered at the Country Hearth Inn located at exit 28 off of I-65. This is the same exit to go to the Corvette assembly plant, or so I'm told. Plus it's close to the track. The phone number is 270-783-4443. They have at least 6 double-bed rooms and 3 single King-bed rooms available. The price is $65 per night. We are tenatively planning to do qualifying and shootouts on both Friday and Saturday, so you don't have to attend both days. (But if would be nice if you did. And remember, Pure Stockers race for free!)

Don and I are driving down on Friday and I will race the Firebird both days. Talked to Curt yesterday and it all depends if he gets the silver Bird back together. Chris is planning on bringing his Dart down so may be 3 of us from Lexington.

If you and Bob drive down earlier in the week and come through Lexingotn for any reason and need a place to stay, just let me know. I have room

Don, Chris and I are staying at the Courtyard (POCI host hotel) and Curt is staying at the Fairfield Inn off I-65 close to you.

I was just informed by POCI President (and a fellow drag racer) Dave Bennett that he needs names and addresses of everyone participating in the Pure Stock Class at Beech Bend Raceway Park. He needs this info to make us credentials so we don't have to pay to enter and race at the track. Even if I know your address, please email me your info anyway so I can get Dave a rough number of participants. If you know anyone who is racing with us and doesn't visit us here on v8buick, please send me their info too. You can either PM me here or email me directly at dajensen@broadstripe.net.

Hey Ken,any pics of this race from the finish line? Who was driving the Ventura? Any results for us poor schmucks who could not make the show?

 

Sorry, John no finish line pics that I know of. HPP was there taking pics as was Don Keefe so there may be something showing up in the Pontiac media. We'll have to wait and see.

The black car is not a Ventura, it is a Bonneville. I think his engine is a 389 Super Duty. 306 heads, SD exh manifolds (with the collectors open), factory aluminum single 4 barrel intake and AFB. It is a 4-speed car with 4.56 gears and slicks for rear tires. I asked the guy if he wanted to race as it would make a great photo. He agreed. On this particular run he ran a 13.69 @ 99 and I ran a 13.99 @ 100.:3gears:

Weather wise we had 90+ degrees and 95% humidity.
