I just got his San Quentin cd. It was recorded in 1969 in San Quentin prison. Its pretty good and thats where the infamous bird whipping picture came from...Worth a listen..If you're a fan. :TU: :TU:
AbSOlutely! I have a fairly good assortment of his music. I wore out several of his "Ring of Fire" LP's and now have that on CD with an unopened one for backup, just in case... I absolutely love his old gun fighter tunes and his version of Casey Jones is my favorite!
I fell into a Ring of Fire....I went down, down, down and the flames were getting higher....Oh yeah... Pat
The Man in Black was truly an American musical icon. From his early songs such as "I walk the line" to his last cd (listen to "When the Man Comes Around" and "Hurt" a remake of a Nine Inch Nails song) there was always great music and stories. Even during the 70's when he was not having a lot of success he made some incredible music. Supposedly there is some material he completed before he passed the will be released soon.
I have been jammin to Johnny Cash for the last few weeks.I never used to like him,but decided to buy a few cd's and take a listen.Good story teller. When I have a son,I am going to name him Bill, or George.Anything but Sue,I still hate that name.
Take a ride with board member 75Riv (Rob) and you will hear Johnny Cash all day long.........  His German girlfriend has a thing for good ol' Johnny, and it's now reflecting on all of us here ou: Here are the two of them, attending a meeting somewhere back in 2003. Not the average country folks I should say..... :bglasses:
I've got several of his CDs and plan on geting a few more! When we're staying weekends at our cabin in the summer I'll put one of his gospel CDs on while we're making Sunday morning breakfast. Then I tell the kids to be quiet 'cause we're having church with Johnny Cash! Here's a follow up question, How many of you have sang a Johnny Cash song at Karaoke night after a few beers! Didn't he sing that Cadillac song, it was a '49, '50, '51, '52....
Sunday Mornin' Coming Down: "The beer I had for breakfast wasn't bad, so I had one more for dessert" 25 minutes to go: "The sheriff said son, I'm gonna watch you die, ... So I laughed and I laughed and I spit in his eye! ..."
Strangely, I don't have a single album or cd of JC, yet several of his songs are among my all-time favorites. I need to go shopping this weekend...
All are great, I truly believe the last four or so produced by Rick Rubin are absolute necessities...along with a big "greatest hits" compilation as well. His version of Soundgarden's "Rusty Cage" is phenomenal.
he had the unique gift of making every song he sang his own......a lot of the rubin songs he did were covers and you could know the song from another artist and still get a whole new vibe from it..........certain guys let their emotion give as much to their music as their talent, and he was the best....
"Well the Rock Island Line it's a mighty good road" Love Cash, I'm only 24 and all my friends tell me I'm old, but I don't care.
One of my all time favorites! I used to work with a guy who liked "new" country (gag!) but didn't like Johnny  so I blew up a big copy of that bird flipping pic one night after he went home and left it on his desk.
