    >>>>on top of the Epoxy. mud over bare metal not cool on a car that you want to look at 20 yrs. later. <<<<<<

It's now a common practice to put plastic filler (Bondo) on TOP of the epoxy primer coat. Supposedly protects the metal better.
....paint dent with epoxy primer, filler on top of primer, then more epoxy over the sanded filler......

Old method was to grind the metal area to be repaired, and apply the filler to the bare metal. Often the metal under the filler would begin to rust.

    >>>>> 'No filter<<<<<<

I'm confused too..... maybe he means he doesn't use a respirator and the fumes caused brain damage????

Some metal conditioners leave a coating on top of the metal that will not allow the etch primers to properly bond will the metal.
It all depends on EXACTLY which products you are using.

I've used a product called Picklex that has worked well to protect bare metal from rusting. It is phosphate based.
Like anything else, apply properly= good results, apply wrong= bad results.

Your best bet is to visit a autobody supply store in your area and see what products they carry.
