    +1 for Meguiars products !
A thorough washing and "clay treatment" would probably be most beneficial prior to the application of any wax -
just check out the Meguiars website. :TU:

Check out Malco products and Farecla products. Mostly sold to body shops through paint supply houses. I use the Malco products on older laquer and enamels and the Farecla stuff on single stage urethanes and BC/CC .

You've got it; compound ,polish then wax.
But start with a good wash job, then clay the top surfaces if they feel rough, solvent on the sides to remove any tar. A good prep is important for a good polish.
Compounds come in different levels of abrasiveness, use a heavier one first to do the work (remove oxidation, scratches , etc.) then a lighter one to polish the finish.
Polishes use to be finer compounds but now everything is labeled a polish,
so look for some thing labeled "cleaner wax" or "swirl filler" , these usually have a mild compound/wax mix and are good for polishing.
Wax fills fine swirl marks and seals the surface, polymers coating seal but don't fill.
FWIW if cost is any reflection of quality, @ $8500 Zymol's Royal Carnuba has to be the best wax

I prefer Chemical Guys products.:TU: :TU: Believe me, there is a big difference in result vis a vis professional vs. store bought products.

If you are considering paint restoration/repair, autopia.org is a virtual treasure trove of information.

If you are looking to go with Meguiar products, I suggest you peruse their Detailer Line of paint re-conditioners at autodetailingsolutions.net. Also, take a look at meguiarsonline.com.

Should I be getting liquid compound or clay?
