Re: Bogus/cheating Ram Air Ii I`m hearing out of the top 10 cars (really, i heard the top 20!!) Rick`s car is the only car that will be heavy teched?? Not fair at all IMHO. From the outside looking in, nothing at stake here, this is a smack in the face to Rick. I`ve talked to 1/2 dozen other guy`s and everybody thinks this is not very pretty. (at least pick one other faster car to give the appearance this is not slanted, my .02) If everybody thinks the "other" faster cars are basically legit in the power dept, maybe they should be pulled aside to check for electric fuel pumps, ign systems and transmissions. Leave the valve covers on these other cars, it`s almost common knowledge the transmissions are all cheated up in the top cars.. The tech process should be fair and IT IS NOT FROM WHAT I`M SEEING. Besides not teching any other fast Pure Stocker, I do love this move towards more tech. Thumbs up in that dept and it is the right move indeed. :TU: :TU: :TU:

If he were running mid 13's, they wouldn't even give his deal much more than raising the hood and looking to make sure the battery wasn't in the trunk! Anyone running at the top of the pile in that class should expect EVERYONE else to be looking for the flaws in your armor, it just goes with the territory....IMHO.....Cliff
Re: Bogus/cheating Ram Air Ii Hello Pure Stockers We only have so much time to do our heavy tech. and we found out at Martin it is very time consuming. Plus we didn't want to over load our new Heavy Tech. Inspector for his first time out since coming aboard. Now we decided to check cars through out the whole pack. We felt that there were a few in the middle of the pack that needed to be checked. Now we will be checking other faster cars down the road so get your ducks in order now. Now as for us zeroing in on Rick Mahoney's car. Let's just say from the feedback over the last two years from other racers telling us what's been done to the car was the main reason Rick's was selected first. And they said the information they were getting was coming straight from the source's mouth. Now lets use this as an example. We get 5 to 6 440/6bbl Super Bee's every year and the ones that are maxed out all seem to run very close e.t.'s / mph. When you have three R.A. II's and one of them are a half a second faster flags start to pop up. Now Terry/Julie Pennington was taking a lot of heat the last two years weather their Corvette complied with the rules. The Pennington's on their own volunteered to do a complete tear down at the track in front of everybody. We appreciated their offer more than they know. That's the kind of attitude we need from all Pure Stockers. So Rick, here's our offer to you. Would you be willing to bring your car in early so we can do a tear down inspection of the engine and drivetrain at Dan's or at the track? The balls in your court Rick. Lets prove that your awesome R.A. II does comply with the rules. We need to put this issue to rest ASAP. Please contact us if your interested. Let the tech inspectors do their job. It's their race. They make the calls. If you don't like it, don't participate. Yeah, the Firebird does make me wonder, but I'm more concerned about my own performance rather than pointing a finger at someone going faster.

The witch hunts do two things, 1) PO a bunch of people (people who take their cars apart, people who do find something wrong with the cars, people who don't find anything wrong with the car) 2) Burn a bunch of good fire wood. ( Iam sure he will take you up on the offer) There should be at least one other car that has to go thru tec.(Really should be top 5) Maybe Rick should pick the other car? Maybe he thinks someone may be cheating maybe even one of his accusers? What do you think Rick? Are you the only guy over there cheating??? In the past when we checked only the fast cars. Then the fast cars complained because we didn't check any of the slower cars. Were damned if we do and were damned if we don't. Bob & Dan

Re: Bogus/cheating Ram Air Ii Bob First off I mean no disrespect to you or Dan. You guys have a great thing going here and if money allows it I hope to be out next year. Running the same way I run my cars in FAST (with my friends by the rules and in the spirit) Tech is very import or else you will have all these actuations that usally lead nowhere. There is no reason for the faster cars to worry about the slower cars being teched unless they get beat by one(which is not gonna happen). There will allways be slower cars worring about the car that is faster then them but you need to start at the top. I was told by a few that Ricks car was the only car going thru this heavy tech and thought that was unfair. I was also thinking that there is way more then one car that comes to my mind in this catagory. But if your telling me your teching a bunch? You really can't ask for more then that I guess unless you wanted to list the names of the guys that did not pass or would not go through with it??? JJ no disresect to you brother but if I have to spend my last dime trying to put you on the trailer with a steal fendered MOPAR so be it. Just be prepaied (stock up on supplies)because it might take a while. I was never one for short cuts. Other then that Bob please call me Ed and hope we can all have fun at the end of the month.
