For all the "old school" Mopar guys (and any other fans of nostalgia racing) we will have a couple special guests hanging out at the PSMCDR on Friday.
Two of the ORIGINAL Ramchargers will be visiting our pits. Tom Hoover and Tom Coddington will be checking out the Pure Stock action before heading to the NSRA Street Rod Nats in Kalamzoo on Saturday. These two were part of the group behind the "High and Mighty" Plymouth back in the day as well as the development guys for Mopar's Hemi and other racing programs.
These guys have forgotten more tricks then we can ever hope to learn. I was kind of hoping they could put a quick super tune on my 340!! LOL!
Let me know if you want to meet them and Ill get in touch with you at the track when they arrive. They got hooked on F.A.S.T. at the Mopar Nats and wanted to see what F.A.S.T. had evolved from.

I think those two might be considered an "Unfair advantage"

Cool! Tom Hoover was very instrumental in the special "A12" six pack package on the 69 Road Runners and Super Bees. There should be a good showing of them there.

Only if I have them sit in your back seat while I try to run down your Ford!! I'll look for any advantage!! :Brow:

I have always loved that Plymouth ( the "High and Mighty"). even if it wasn't a Ford!
I pit crewed for one of the Stage car racers occasionally in the late 60's also. Those wedges would fly. Dave Boertmann, Dave Mckenna, etc. DH will think of the rest of them, there must have been twenty real good stage cars running SS in the 60's & 70's. Hoover and Coddington, Dave Mckenna all were behind that deal. Daimler was nowhere around as I remember!!:TU: Neither was Lee Iacocca.
In a way it's too bad we can't figure out a way to allow a few of the Factory race cars to run in an "Exhibition class" open headers, 7" tires etc. The problem would be policing it so you didn't get 502's and 526 late model Hemis running. Be fun to watch, but I couldn't afford to do it.:3gears:

Yep it would. Tried to do just that a few years ago, but everyone wanted their buddy with the 502 and 526 stuff and tubbed stuff to run. Anything under the hood stuff.

Already can see that in other classes so it wasn't worth it.

What if you held them to the same rules as the pure stocks with the only exception being the headers? You would have to limit them to "recognized" race only package cars as well.Might even have to limit it to 68 and older cars.

Yep, that was about it with period correct slicks and also lettering allowed. I wanted to run a '63 Light Weight Galaxie....period correct.

It kept morphing into bracket night for run what ya brung....but for old cars.

    No thanks.

    Re: New Class

I remember that whole back and forth discussion about a new class for these special cars. At the time we had P.S., S.A., F.A.S.T. and M.P. Now let me see here... gosh, what was the acronym you settled on for this new class Brian? If memory serves, wasn’t it:

Factory Unlimited Class Kits Including Tires

Frank I would be interested as I may be running a Pontiac this fall but have run several Mopars in the past and have the only two tone lift off hood (A12)runner they made. Three two tone lift off hood Bee's made it down the line.

Mark, are you referring to a painted roof? What color is the car/roof?

Quite OK. Still recovering from that trip back in time yesterday to the forgotten junkyard that Lon found in Western, Pa. It was eerie, almost like a cemetery. About 50-100 complete cars, almost all in the 50's, few in the 60's and 40's, quietly rotting away in this dense woods. Relatively untouched in 40-50 years. Most complete, all way beyond saving, some salvageable pieces.

I know the feeling, you just wander around looking for an excuse to wander around some more. Going to Ford EXPO at Trailways, see you Monday.

John Brown On permanant vacation !!

Barrie could just fall in behind Copo Pete and the rest of the crowd coming down from Ontario.

Would be interesting if he were to get into racing pure stock Mustangs. :Brow:

Barrie Poole. Its been a while since I heard that name. I know when we were discussing how we could get some more FORDS to show up 4-5years ago and his name was at the top of the list. This is starting to get good!!!!!! PSMCDR is getting some exposure when people with that type of history are starting to show up.

    Starting to get good?

I always thought it was good! :TU:

I can see it now. Next we'll need a manufacturers midway and a visit from Binky the Clown!

Maybe we can shut the track down and have exhibition passes half the day!:dollar:

(Dave, don't reference the Model A runs, that happened once on the lunch break.)

Not trying to start a fight.......never waited in line for an autograph and don't care to start now.
