Calm down Brian, you can autograph my T shirt any time as Mr. MERCURY:TU: . Unless Don Nicholson shows.:eek2: These guys aren't going to change this, or us, just want to see what it's all about. If they bring a larger crowd and earn Dan and crew a couple of bucks....Oh darn!!:beers2:
Serenity now.......serenity now........  Really, the stars of the show is everyone that shows up to race. :beers2:
I should check with one of my old bosses at Ford, Don McElroy. He's retired and still around here, still has two of his old cars in a warehouse in Fenton. He drove NHRA Stock Eliminator cars for years, mostly Mopars. Finished off his career driving for Jack McCormack's Wheel City "fleet" in a Grand National. Raced with Karkashian and Dellahanty. His 318 Duster ran in the 10's. He could shift like Ronnie Sox or Dave Strickler.....or Barry Poole. Would that be cool, or would that be cool...... A 4 car ladder at lunch break with 4 of these old time drivers..........in the Model A's......... :beers2: Just so you won't be bored and feel left out, you could be the flagman, Brian, wearing a tutu and a halter top. What a visual.......
Don't kid yourself. The stars of the show are the cars. :TU: You drivers are all just a bunch of beer-swilling, kabob-eating bags of carbon.
Some of you missed the point! People that typically run the slicks, roll cages, headers, product stickered cars with the wheel up launches are coming to see the factory paint, full exhaust and manifold, stock tire, full interior cars go 1/4 mile drag racing. For some people the light switch has been turned on. Darn right the cars are the draw of the event! They fans aren't coming to see you or I sweat and drink beer Friday or Saturday. They are there for the best show of the year. Jim:TU:
I talked to Tom Coddington yesterday and I was informed that Tom Hoover will not be able to attend. His wife is recovering from a serious illness and he doesn't want to be away from home until she is 100%. Hoover's son, however, is staying with Mr. 6 Pack- Bob K. for the event. Mr. Coddington will still be there on Friday.
Hold on there, pardner! You know very well Ma Mopar didn't keep those records! Maybe surviving cars, but not total made. :Smarty:
