If you are coming down 95 first take note of your time. If it's around the rush STAY AWAY FROM NYC AREA, GW BRIDGE you'll be stuck there forever! If you take this route MAKE SURE once in NJ a few miles out from the GW Bridge is the Route 80 West and NJ Turnpike south split. You can take the NJ Turnpike (toll$$$) south to the PA Turnpike (I believe exit 6 or 7) or get onto Route 80 west. From there I would suggest stay on 80 right into PA and Ohio. But if you want to meet up with the guys then from Route 80 in PA jump onto route 81 south which runs into the PA turnpike. Or you can get onto Route 80 in NJ from the directions below and once in PA jump onto Route 81 south to the PA turnpike.

The first option is the route I take and I'm about 25 minutes south east from CT, In in Putnam County, NY (just south off of Rt 684 and Rt 84). Took me 7 hours towing from my house to Boardman, Ohio. And hit no traffic. And the only toll is the Delaware Water Gap on Route 80 going into NJ. The PA Turnpike is a toll road plus you will be going south of Salem then going west and back north.

FIRST OPTION: Take 95 south into Westchester, NY take 287 east towards the Tappan Zee Bridge (morning rush is going in the other direction). Once over the bridge stay straight, it runs directly into the the NY State Thruway stay on it for about 10-15 miles until you see signs for Route 287 south NJ (NOT THE SAME 287 in Westchester), take it south (only goes south and beware the PD radar the heck out of this stretch) stay on 287 south into Route 80 in NJ (can't miss it) Take Route 80 west into that looonng state of PA. Once in Ohio you will still be on Rt 80, just past Youngstown get off at exit 226 which is Route 11 (your about 15 minutes or so from hotels) take it south to Route 224 hang a left onto 224 follow into Boardman to the hotels.

SECOND OPTION: From the MA Pike onto Route 84 into CT westbound. Stay on Rt 84 through CT, through NY over the Newburg Beacan(spelling?) Bridge, head into PA. Continue on 84 west into the Scranton, PA area then take Route 81 South and that will get you to Route 80 in PA, take that west into Ohio....follow above direction from there. This route may be a little slower on time but like above only has the Delware Gap toll.
Or again if you want to hook up with the PA and south Jersey group, just continue on 81 south past Rt 80 exit until you hit the PA Turnpike.

    :Dou:

Either way, best of luck and have a safe trip out. I will be leaving sometime Wednesday morning around 4am along with a few other guys.

Gang, looks like I'll be heading out at about 9AM and should be in Salem by about 3:30 or so. So don't bother adding any extra time to your already long trip by detouring to the PATPK. Just take I-80 all the way and save yourself some seat time.

    I'll see everyone there.

    Jeff,

You still got my home phone right? Call me when you are about two exits before Cranberry PA exit. At that point I'll either meet you on the Pike, or you can exit at Cranberry and pit here, and take the last hour drive on the good ole American backroads. I recommend the backroads cause its a beautiful drive!

Well, they just renumbered them by mile-marker. So I don't know the new designation. Cranberry was #3. Call me when around old number 5 or 6.

Dan, old exit 3 is now exit 28. Funny, I'm old exit 28.

I'll call you around old exit 4 Butler Valley, now exit 39. We can meet at the exit and go from there.
