I ran 13.49 on Friday in the wind.
    I ran 13.16 on Saturday, so I guess I lost my shoot-out.
No big deal really 'cause I'm happy I ran the number.
Just curious if anyone else saw this with other cars on Saturday.

Paul,if you broke out in the first run and lost the 2nd round, why did they have you guys run again?

Dave and I weren't sure what to do. We just figured what the heck and ran another run. I know when the results are tallied up Dave will win the shoot-out. We were just bangin' gears I guess.

I was close to breaking out in the second round when everything went right. Think is was just barely under the 0.300 limit, something like .285.

Last year when my competitor's car came alive and he ran 0.8 under the qualifying time in the first round, the match was over but we also ran a second round. I left on the second light, got out front and was uncatchable. Figured that was pretty close to the 0.8 handicap. :Brow:

I guess another question would be; if you break out on a pass, do you forfeit the whole shoot-out or just that round? Again, I'm just curious if anyone knows.

I think you are DQ'd for the shootout........ my first year I broke out, and thought it was only for that race, so we raced 2 more times:

when the results were published, the thrid race results were not there at all.

OK thanks. I guess that would make sense. They don't want to see a bunch of brake lights at the top end. Nor do I.

I spoke to bob bowden after my race partner went .6 faster than his qualifying time. He confirmed to me that you loose the shoot out if you break out. I was nearly .3 faster on saturday, but the black 70 chevelle LS6 came alive in the second race and went from 13.17 to 12.77 on a 13.30 qualifying time. we had fun as both of our cars were evenly mached right down to the same trans, gear, rwhp and carb jetting.

Same Black SS Chevelle that ran 0.8 under when I raced him last year, I'll bet. He's new to this, so give him a pass, for a while. Very nice guy, very fast car.

Both the flier and the website said a breakout only forfeited that round, but when I asked Bob and Dan, thye said that wasn't right, you forfeit the entire match. Guess they need to correct for next year. Has alwys been that way, don't know why the flier and website was different. Have to ask them.

None of us want to see brake lights or snoozes at the line then roar past at 10 MPH faster at the end. Has happened to me many times, but that's part of running a small block. :beer :beer :beer

I thought you only lost the round, not the shootout this year, if you went 3 tenths faster. With Fridays gail force headwind, everyone shoud have broke out Saturday. Not me though, too many traction issues. May have been caused be the 100-150 burnouts on those rear tires:Do No:, through the years. Joe X.

Talk to Bob and Dan, I brought it up at Martin. Rules haven't changed since the start.

Benoit broke out too and we went all 3 rounds. Said what the hell we wanted to run em no matter who won and it made the last race that much more fun being I beat him with a 13.60 to his 13.50.. Leaning how important the lights are. his . 217 to my .031

Was a great race to the traps ...

Whatever the rules are is fine by me. It's fun no matter what. Losing is no big deal. I can't remember how many wins or losses I have anyway. It's more of "When's the next race?"

But, my car always runs better on day-two of these events. No matter how hard I beat on it qualifying, the next day is always a tick better.
Is it that the track is prepped and stickier?
Do you guys also see the same thing?

Paul, the only reason I wanted to know who won our match was because everone kept asking me "who won?". I told them I didn't know if the breakout rule applies this time because of the terrible headwind during qualifying. Either way it was a lot of fun and between Martin and Stanton, you and I are 1-1. Maybe Martin 08' we can be heads up again.

Dave I think you are confused on which black LS6. I know Mkie Hurd is the gentleman that went a 12.77. New motor and clutch that wasn't doing much for the 60ft times. His 12.77 pass was from a 2nd gear start. He may have lost his shoot out but was thrilled with his best ever at Stanton. He took a 2 year pass before coming back this year.

hey, dave, it's not a problem with me really. you got the win. i'm happy with the run. like i said, i'm just asking in case it happens again. i think we did ok by running a third round. i figured there were some other racers in the same boat. i've never had it happen in any of my shoot-outs before.
btw, beautiful car and nice 60 foot times. glad you were able get the problem fixed good enough to race. :beer
