Not necessarily, but it wouldn't hurt to have the modifications done. The poston S divider isn't the worst intake in the world, but given the choice between it and the TA intake, I'd go TA. Unless you mill down the center divider a little bit to let both banks "talk" to eachother. And if you have any more questions, consider making your own thread, this one is mainly about the new cylinder heads. And more often than not, someone has already asked your questions before, I can't even count how many questions I've had that already had 5 threads about them.
Looked at the flow sheet for them today,....281cfm at 550 lift 272 at 500,...the numbers are there to support 600hp
You guys are going to have to quit handicapping these little engines with low compression and mild cams tho, close to 12 to 1 with these chambers and the appropriate cam are possible on 93 pump .An 11.5 to 1 355~370 should make an honest 475 with box stock heads. Get a CNC program dialed up and shelf parts could get you guys 500hp pump gas small blocks very easily
Maybe, with 2.00 intake valves, it should flow. But 280 is pretty good either way. Did you get to see them when you stopped over?

Yeah I brought one of the test heads and one of the complete heads for show. I got 280cfm out of it screwing around on a Saturday, there's more on the table. .500 lift out of the box is about 218cfm. Remove all of the sharp edges from the machine work and it picks up 40 cfm. That's with a 1.94" valve. You can go 2.02 to 2.05. I got close to 200cfm on a 1.50 exhaust valve.
I'll stop by Friday & look. It was frenzied, for me anyway & it was just starting to rain which fortunately didn't last, when I picked up the engine cradle on Thu.
Damn! Of the box 218 cfm.. you're looking at an estimated 450 hp. At 280 cfm, you're .at 580 hp. ... I just used Superflow calculation for a S/S engine which is.. CFM X No. Of Cylinders X 0.26
Yeah........................, those numbers would be closer to maximum volumetric efficiency meaning like 14:1 compression HUGE cam and the ability to spin to over 8,000 RPM, etc.. So realistically for a good street pump gas engine with the better flowing heads would be 400 to 550 depending what compromise the owner wants to make and the other parts that are built into it? Lets all remember that the factory cast iron heads flow right around 200 cfm of intake flow "out of the box" and none of those factory engines are breaking any land speed or HP records. I would expect an aftermarket head to flow at least 260 intake cfm "out of the box"(but the more the better) with much much more potential with porting. (which it sounds like they're almost there)
I thought JW got 400 ponies out of a 212 roller with irons. These alums should blow those numbers away.
