http://www.msn.com/en-us/autos/news...rs-next-year/ar-BBK8jFC?li=BBmkt5R&ocid=ientp Hmm...not sure I like where this is headed...
"Global Consistency "?!!! that hacks me off even MORE than the old lady croaking out "that's not a Buick!" That we were bombarded with! Grrrrr Oh well, they haven't built anything I like since 87 anyway.......global consistency what a cheesy modern catch phrase. Wouldn't you rather drive globally consistent? Hell to the NO!!!
Worried more about China. As far as I'm concerned GM can drop them like Olds and Pontiac. What a kick in the sack to the U.S. market. Tom
Don't believe the hype and you thought they were going to bring a GNX back... NOT. Worst part of about Buick it was a part of General Motors.
Well, Buicks are for old farts and admit it or not most of us are "more mature" aka old Its too bad that not all old farts are like us, kickin ass in our old fart cars with Buick on the back end to slap em in the face......
The pedigree of our Buicks died when they went to across the board matching corpo engines. This means nothing in regards to our cars or their heritage (IMHO).
Just walked out into the shop for a little look-see.....None of the 20 or so newer Chevrolets or Cadillacs (stuff within the last 5 years or so) say "Chevrolet" or "Cadillac" on them.....just crests and bowties and whatever the name of the vehicle is. I guess you're supposed to know that a Suburban or an Equinox is a Chevy and an Escalade or CTS is a Caddy.
I noticed that today too Lucas. I was at the bank drive thru and the Escalade in front of me didn't say "Cadillac" anywhere on the sides or rear. For all I could tell, it was made by "Flex Fuel" as that was the badge on the left side.
I hadn't even noticed until I saw this thread and went to see....the only two cars with a brand name on them out there right now is a 1992 Oldsmobile and a Pontiac G8 we've got in. There's actually a newer Toyota Tundra out there and it has absolutely NO emblems or markers on it anywhere other than a grille emblem. It doesn't even let you know it's a Tundra.
Just another reason why I'll sadly never buy another newer GM vehicle again. If they don't care about brand loyalty and are more worried about customers in China, why should I care a fig about them? I thought GM was a North American brand, not an Asian one. When will they announce that corporate headquarters are moving to Shanghai from Detroit? My next new vehicle will probably be a lousy Japanese one, (I still detest Japanese cars!) they're about the only ones left that actually care about what they produce. I never thought I'd see the day.
I just bought a 2018 pickup from a local GM dealership. It’s got bow ties everywhere, on the inside of the drivers door it says it was built in Missouri, but by looking at the outside, you’d swear it came from Colorado.
it's not just GM that's doing this. my 2018 Mustang doesn't say ford anywhere on the outside of the vehicle.
X2. This isn't really new or unique to Buicks. As mentioned, various makes of other cars and trucks currently show no manufacturers emblems. Many older vehicles had none. My '65 Corvette, like all midyears except the '67s, does not have a single mention of Chevrolet on it anywhere. (The '67s had "Chevrolet" in small letters on the rally wheel hub caps). Think about it, the only mention of "Buick" on a '70-'72 GS (and, I'm sure others) is in very small letters on the grill badge.
Maybe there is more to the story and they sold Buick. They should have taken it off GM cars back in 2009 when they started producing all that junk that did not have Buick.....yes Buick 3800 engines that actually lived up to the American engineering that we were capable of. It would be a shame to see the name go the way of the dinosaur. I do not necessarily see that happening since it has been here longer than Ford.
