Why can't they just put Buick on the cars in America and Cuick on the cars in China. They'll sell a Billion of them!

Maybe Harley Davidson should try selling bikes in China; I read that they’re not doing so well here as their traditional die hard riders are aging out or dying and younger folks aren’t replacing them (I guess millenials can’t text and ride, or the shaking spills their lattes).

In response to SO MANY of you talking about the distinctiveness or lack of distinctiveness of said cars, I have seen both extremes to this. I went to pick up my nephew's son at the private school he attends a few years ago, and the staff member that was directing pickup said "Nice Skylark! What year?" . Now, the staff member was not old enough to have been in the muscle car era, and didn't seem to be the "Car Guy" type of person, but that sure felt nice. On the other extreme, I turned around to follow an 86/ 87 GN out in the rural area I live, driving my 87 Turbo Regal Limited. After we stopped at his destination, the GN driver thought I was driving a Monte Carlo... Right... A Monte Carlo would be able to turn around and CATCH a GN... What was he thinking? Granted there aren't many turbo cars that have a Landau vinyl top...(HEH HEH)

I always make a point of learning to be able to recognise (esp. in the dark) what the front end of certain cars/trucks look like in my rear view mirror;).

Buick is (at least was) wildly popular in China and is the reason it wasn't axed in '09. I'd think they'd want to put the name on them. From a marketing standpoint I'd love to know the reasoning.

A reality that we as Americans will have to get used to is that we are no longer the number one market in the world. Both China and India are well over a billion in population and have rapidly improving economies. If I was the CEO of GM or any other international corporation I would be much more concerned about what sells in Asia then in the US. Ideally, a company would like to be successful in all markets, but if it has to choose one, it will be Asia.
BTW: I just noticed that my 2005 Dodge Magnums do not have DODGE on them anywhere - inside or outside. Just the Ram's head.

Well, the value of my Olds went up when the marque went away, lets hope that for my Buick as well.

Lets see ~ 2 plastic stick on emblems @ $4.73 plus .01 hours labor to install vs no emblem and no cost.

Pretty bad if that's the reason, just shows how on the ropes that company really is then. What a shame.

Driving around yesterday I did see quite a few vehicles with brand names on them. Dodge, Ford, Kia, Toyota, Nissan, Hyundai, GMC, Honda, Genesis, Chrysler. Probably more that I forgot.
