I'm very proud the hulk made it there. I may have helped some, but Shawn was the one burning the midnight oil to get it ready.

And I'd also like to add that of all of the years that we have had Buicks.. This was the first time ever that we got to cruise nose to tail. So it was a fantastic event!

Yeah man, cruising in line along the coast of lake Erie was absolutely awesome! That was a huge payoff in itself!

Thanks! That looks like the trash bins in the hotel lot.... :)
Ya know, its funny, I really didn't take too many pictures of the car. Being its first show since the resto got (mostly) finished (sort of), you'd think I would have. Snapped a few sitting with taulbs car in the hotel lot, but that was about it. I've seen a few on the BPG Facebook page others have taken, I'll get the wifey to download them (I'm not a facebooker but she is)

Thanks again for all the congrats guys. I was honored (and a bit embarrassed) by the whole thing, but it still stands that it was built for me. That was the first and very well may be the last award it gets, and I'm cool with that. The big award was seeing all the guys at the event I've become such good friends with and get to see once a year, making some new Buick pals, and having some fun with my wife and best bud and getting to know his new significant other whos a cool chick too. That kinda weekend beats a trophy any day!

That said, heather did suggest I take this when we got home.... Haha

Thanks! It was great chatting with you and your son as well! Sorry I didn't get to take you for that spin Saturday, we got back to the hotel from our cruise up to lake Erie just in time for the monsoon to hit :(

    Shawn,
    Congrat's!!
Nice ride. I wanted to look it over a second time but as luck would have it I never got back to the show. Too busy finding a pesky little gremlin that tried to take up residence in my X..... but I found him and kicked him out! LOL

Nice talking to you for a brief time on Friday night. Wish I could have spent more time hanging out!

Again, nice job on the "Hulk".

Thank you Steve, glad you got it fixed (what was the issue?). I always knew your car was nice, but after getting a close up in person look, it is hands down one of if not the most well executed purpose built race cars I've ever seen. Every detail showed it was thought out and executed to the nth degree. To say its an impressive machine is an understatement!

    Well, Thank You Shawn!

About the gremlin......It was my own fault! Last year I read an article and heard some stories about racers tightening the lock nuts on the valve lash adjusters too tight. The article stated that there is "no need to over tighten the lock nut, they won't come loose". Well, I paid attention to this because I always feel that I tighten them too much, so..... this spring I made it a point to NOT over tighten them and wouldn't you know it, one came loose!! The funny thing is that I couldn't hear a miss in the engine other than being just a tad lazy when revving it and certainly lazy on the track. Anyway I took it all apart, made the repair (tightened the hell out of the lock nuts!) and it's once again ready to ROCK!!

    Thanks again,
    Steve

Thanks Alan, I was as honored as I was shocked (and believe me, i was shocked). I didn't mean to brush off compliments, I really appreciate them, I've just always been my harshest critic and was brought up to be humble. Its a double whammy that makes it tough for me to take compliments I guess.

Anyway, as I said before, the best part was just seeing everyone again and having a blast as always.

Congratulations on getting the car finished in time to make it to the show and the well deserved award. Wish I was able to make it out there for debut. Hopefully I will see it later this year.

Did about 25 miles in the car yesterday, that puts the total a pinch over 100 since the lifter disaster. No new issues, so far so good. However, I'm still not totally content with the oil pressure. I did a few 5k blasts and (although its hard to watch the gauge with the thing pulling like a freight train) it barely touches 50psi. I know that's technically acceptable, but I'm going to pull the oil pump apart and probably tweak the shims if there's room (I have a sneaking suspicion there is room for adjustment). Its still getting between 5 and 10 at idle, and Denny Manner has said anything over zero is acceptable as long as it comes up with throttle, but on a brand new engine there's no reason why I shouldnt tweak it to ideal pressures. FYI, this is coming from a mechanical gauge off the rear galley port on the block.

Definitely not an expert by any means but it's my understanding that your oil pressures aren't too bad considering you are reading you oil pressures from the rear galley plug. Pressure might drop off by 5psi or maybe more. If I were you I would definitely try to bring it up just for piece of mind. As you put more miles on it the oil pressure will only get lower. Granted it would take a lot of miles to do so but still.

    Congrats on the car man!

All the car needs now is you to fix the small stuff that you're worriyng about and then do a nice photoshoot! :)

    I really like the color!

Wish you lots of fun miles in and with the car!

    Benny
