hey Shawn been following the build and really enjoy it. I was hoping to make it up to Norwalk but couldn't. Will you be going to Goodguys Columbus next week?

Finally got around to cleaning up the trunk some. Warning: the purists will hate this (but then purists would hate this car anyway) as its not the splatter paint. But I wanted something durable that still looked nice.

Anyway, I used gray herculiner and rolled it in. I used this on a truck i had, and it held up pretty well really. I used that truck like a truck too! It did start to get some thin spots over time, but that was my fault as in hind sight I didn't put as many coats on as I should've. Seeing how this trunk will never see firewood, gravel, atv's, or anything remotely close to what I put in that truck bed, I think it'll hold up fine.

I finally got around to devoting an afternoon to putting the magnaflow exhaust on. It was about as much of a pain in the butt as I thought it'd be, but in all fairness I've done much worse. One thing that threw a real wrench in the gears is there was no way I was going to get that x pipe to fit without major surgery and a pipe bender. I measured, mocked up, and messed with it seven ways to Sunday, it wasn't gonna fly. So i used the pipe supplied for multiple output positions and actually got a pretty good dual setup out of it.
I may take it to a shop and have them do the x eventually, but for now there nothing wrong with it. The jury's out on the sound, I'll have to give it time and see if I'm truly happy or not. But its a heck of a lot quieter, and that's a start!

Yeah, sorry about that. Couldn't figure out how to edit it. But it more about the sound than the sight! ;)

Sounds pretty bada$$. With the Stage 2 hood scoop and that sound you are not stealthly sneak up on anyone!

That sounds healthy Shawn. Is this a clamp together system? I have done three or four of those style of kits and once its all fit, I weld 100% all joints that I dont want coming apart.....or leaking..makes it SOLID> I like to grab a tail pipe and be able to shake the car....

Thanks Dean. It's actually about 25% the volume that it was with the old exhaust, so its at least more inconspicuous than it was! The car is a bit of an oxymoron though (so is the driver for that matter.... Haha). Detrimmed, not a flashy color, not flashy wheels, but a big scoop and up till now insanely loud exhaust. It was trying and failing to be a sleeper, only that was the plan! (If that makes any sense)

Yeah Mark, its clamped together. It may get welded eventually, but I want to see how I like it before making anything too permanently attached.

    Thanks Clark!

Took the new exhaust for a test ride and the jury's still out. No more rattles, but this exhaust is weird. I'm gonna have to have somebody do drive by so I can hear it. Under cruising load it is STUPID QUIET. I can hear the carb sucking air over the exhaust until I get up to around 3k rpms. But when you give it the goods, about 3k it opens up like a totally different system. Never heard one go from that quiet to that audible like that. It's weird coming from the really loud exhaust that was on there. Downside, cruising around all I hear is valve train. Haha. I think my rockers need a bit more tweaking since initial (re)adjustment.

But anybody wanting a very quiet exhaust while cruising but still lets out a respectable bark at WOT, take a look at magnaflow.

That sound at idle is badass!

Sounds good (and somewhat familiar) David! If you recall, as I told you in the past, your idle video of the 288-92 I've probably watched more than any other YouTube video while I was building my car!
Thank you sir! As I said, its a little tough to adjust to at first as the exhaust I had on their prior would rattle your fillings out of your head. It sounds good at idle from behind it, and has a nice bark starting at 3k, but typical cruising r's is quiet as a church mouse. There's a definite adjustment period! But I think it'll due nicely.

Nice to be able to do work and test drive the results. that cam sounds perfect. I knew that was a good choice.
that's a real nice street car with a solid bark.

Just posted video of my car idling (in my build thread in Members Rides), also no crossover pipes. Sound is deeper, louder without them is what I hear.

Thanks Joe. Funny you say that, I wasn't gonna take it for a drive tonight as I wanted to leave it on the stands for an oil change and some other tweaks, but my willpower failed and curiosity got the best of me! It's the first time it's seen the street since July 4th! But there's a cruise Friday and show Saturday I hope to attend so gotta get moving. Thinking needs some plugs and jet tweaks soon too. It's running rich (I know the plugs are fouled) and has a shutter at 3k.
No joke, I was commenting on your thread before I stopped here! Haha. Your ride sounds great, and I love the sinister look.
