The weight was actually my main focus. I know we can't make the kind of Power some of the other brands can with factory parts so I knew the overall weight of the car would be crucial. It was actually pretty fun taking weight out of some of these parts and then re-installing them. Some of the parts don't even function anymore but still "look the part".

The part you asked about is a "Dash Pot".

    Thanks for checking it out.

Where can you get the weight from?

Since this car was a frame off restoration we were able to look at every part and piece that came off this car. If there was a way to lighten the part or replicate a particular part out of aluminum or cro moly we did it.

We also took great care to keep the car stock looking so for the most part you will not notice where the weight came off. Car looks totally stock other than a couple of parts such as the brakes master cylinder which along with the brakes were upgraded for safety reasons. Creativity is and was the key in the buildup.

Well, if I can afford to build the 70 Motor next year the 71 motor should be like new yet with very few miles on it. With that being said if I can recoupe the majority of the build price (minus my labor) I will offer it up for sale. If not, I will tuck it away in the corner for a spare.

If I do decide to sell it I will post it here first.

Thanks for your time & interest.

Are you thinking of F.A.S.T. or some other class?

I'm not really gearing this car towards any specific class at this time.

We'll see how it performs when completed and see how close to the rules we end up.

Just wondering because I don't think you can run those TA aluminum heads in F.A.S.T.

I guess it's kind of of tough call, as I know there is a lot of interest the TA aluminum heads; especially when it comes to the stock appearing look.

We may run some of the TA heads at some point but right now my goal is to get this car in the 10's with the Factory Cast Iron heads, intake and manifolds. Tough task - but that's the goal.

Good to hear; It's nice to see someone still messing with an all iron engine.

Nice Job Todd, very close to your goal weight. Definately the lightest stock appearing GS around, no doubt.

It will be interesting to see what it runs next spring. That weight loss not only helps overall et, it does wonders for traction.

Philip, those are some nice E.T.s. (Especially considering how much weight you're talking)

If you work on that weight a bit she'll be even faster!! Keep up the good work! Not many 73's running that quick!

    Thanks Jim.

We have a couple more GOOD ideas to shed some more weight. It's very possible we'll be under 3,100 on race day.

Thanks again for your help along the way.

We'll definately see some track time this spring! (You may have to come visit Rock Falls Raceway some weekend)
