If you had your exhaust crossovers filled, then I would think you also want to have the center dividers welded flush. The alternative is to mill the entire exhaust side of the head down to the same level as the dividers. But that has it's own problems, since it moves the manifolds closer to the block, oil filter, etc. If you can look at an untouched Olds head, you'll see what I'm talking about. The thin wall (divider) between the center two exhaust ports does not extend out flush with the rest of the sealing surface. So picture what happens when you bolt on the manifold: the exhaust pulses can freely scoot from one port to the other -- which is part of what you were trying to prevent by having the crossovers filled. If you leave the gap there, and if you use the gaskets, you can use a chisel, tin snips, or dremel tool to trim the center divider out of the gaskets.
What about degreeing the cam? It's straight up now. 0 degree. Someone had suggested retarding it 2 degrees. Think I should run it like it is first? uzzled: What other F.A.S.T events are coming up near WI. this spring or summer?
You would be much better served getting a custom grind cam with a 117 lca to compliment the cast exhaust manifolds. Talk to greg about the cam also. JMHO
Building my 70 / W32 Well, got my exhaust aan intake back from Greg today  Looks great! Now I begin putting it together. Hope for the best! :3gears:
W32 What does anyone think I should do with my distributor besides recurving? Can you run an Edelbrock quadrejet in stock appearing? o No:
Well, you're in FAST for sure, so you have to follow their rules, not Factory stock or Pure stock. I think you can run a Pertroniks or Crane conversion, but have to retain the stock distributor housing. Either one is fine, Crane has the advantage of having the rev limiter built in. If you also runan MSD, moot point. I think they just revised the rules in FAST that you don't have to run a numbers match anymore, just the same CFM as the original. Why run an Edelbrock? If that's the same as a spread bore Holley, better contact the rules Nazis at FAST.
Building my 70 / W32 Well, got my motor back together and running yesterday! Was pretty excited! Still need to get the new exhaust on, hopefully next week. Haveing my carb tuned, and next week-end if all goes well, we'll get her fine tuned! Can't wait! Wife and I took car to A&W today. First time out. Felt good! :beer Will give new update when I get exhaust on. :3gears:
Building my SXW32 Just an update. Got my 2 1/2" exhaust on and I've already noticed difference in performance! Haven't got carb tuned yet. Friends mother died and he's just getting going again. I left the cam that was in it in. Runs pretty good. Very little pinging on pump gas at 10 degrees BTDC. More work to be done in tuning. Does anyone know where I can get 2 1/2" trumpet exhaust tips (442)?
Building my SXW32 I haven't been able to find 2 1/2" exhaust tips. Tried Pypes but they are out. Seems to be a real hot item. Got a show coming up this week-end and don't have the tips on. Might finally get car tuned up this Sunday! We'll see. Cant wait to take it to strip to see what it will do. :Brow: :3gears:
ROP is down so maybe you didn't see my post. Try Rocket Racing. John said he had the 2.5" trumpets in stock when I talked to him last week.
