Funny, a guy at the local cruise night showed up in Chief Brody's Blazer. It was cool. Had the roll bar with the two lights on top and said "Amity Police" on the sides
I actually had the pleasure of recreating the Bullet chase route last year. My brother lived out there at the time. The hills are as advertised . Quite a thrill. Everyone should try it.
Jason the scene early in Jaws where the Blazer goes screaming by would never really happen. I know the spot well. Driver had to slam on the brakes as there is a hairpin turn. If he kept that speed he would go off a cliff and end up on the beach. I take a bike ride there every summer. Same spot where the famous billboard was. There was never one really there. I infiltrate and spy while I am there. They have no clue.
My nephew went to the school attached to the church where Bullitts chief attended. They changed the stairs a bit.
This is the Safeway they speed by. They came from the direction where all the cars are stopped. Quite a bit more traffic.
When you crest the hills all you see is sky. It is something. The damn Prius got in our way. They infect that damn state. So we had to do it a couple more times. My wife was less that thrilled.
"Bullitt"is the movie wherea lot of icons were made: It is,(with some debate) listed as the'greatest car chase scene'captured on film...It listed a Black Dodge Charger('68) R/T...way before Blade, the Dukes of Hazard, Fast n Furious, and others that follow that. The 68 Mustang that Iconic..before Spencer for Hire...Ford made Bullitt Mustangs(a new one is coming out. That's what Eleanor..grew up to be.Steve McQueen was cooler than James Dean could ever be( one Black man's opinion )Bill Hickman and Steve McQueen Drove those cars.(No Chevys in the chase scenes) Made the careers of Robert Vaughn, Norman Fell, Simon Oakland, Georg S Brown,Don Gordon, and whats that guy that later played in The GodFather... the cab driver/you know his name... Anyway...Bullitt was the movie,of a SF detective who did his job. Great movie.I got it on DVD .Mr.Jay B.Britt,Jr.
I think his cab had that bobble head dog in back too. It was the movie that got me interested in cars when my father took me to see it when I was 8 or 9. I was hooked. I have the DVD as well. The funniest part of the movie is the real stylized freeze frame bad guys at the beginning breaking through the glass. All wearing suits and ties. Just damn funny. Not like the gang banger criminals today with flat rim baseball hats and tattoos. No you idiots you don’t hold a pistol sideways.
