    Thumbs up for Isky!!!!
I'v used several of their cams over the years, never had a problem. Great people to deal with too!

Last year I put one of their 262 cams in a 9:1 Buick 350.
Also upgraded to a [factory] 4V intake, HEI, duals, and a shift kit in the T-350.

    Very pleased with the performance.

Slight "rumpity" sound... but very close to stock

This winter my dad and I are detailing my engine compartment and upgrading my 350 to a four barrel. I recently tried to talk him into that TA 112 cam because I was looking for the better sound and liking the thought of the extra 25 horses for $150. But as the car is a daily driver, my pops overruled me and said it wasn't necessary, though I think he just didn't want me to have the extra power and have to install the new cam. My only performance upgrades will be the four barrel with an open element filter, 3.5" cowl, and dual Magnaflows exiting through 2.5" pipes. I was wondering/hoping that the stock cam may need to be replaced (only 85000 miles). I understand this is very very wishful thinking, but I'm looking for reasons/excuses to convince my dad I NEED this upgrade. If anyone here feels strongly enough with me on this, I would appreciate any suggestions. This car is daily driven. I'm sorry if I stole anyone's thread, but I thought this would fit here comfortably.

    Thanks,
    Jacob

    Jacob,

I wasn't going to replace the cam on my 65k mile motor, but then I pulled the lifters and found several that were cupped. I'm looking at the TA 112 after GSXMEN's recommendation. I was also looking at Poston's GS350-110, but I haven't decided. After checking out the ISKY site and I think the ISKY 256 looks like it might also work for my needs. Also, if you don't replace the cam make sure you at least put a new timing chain and gear set in. My low mile car was missing all the nylon off the gear and it was packed nicely on the oil pump pick up screen.

    Good luck!

I hate those nylon gears :af:

When they loose the teeth off of them, it causes "cam walk", which eats up the lifters :af:

Check your lifters while it's apart.

That might be reason enough to replace the cam:TU:

    JUST A REMINDER

Just because you add a larger cam, doesn't mean it will run faster in the quarter mile, it moves the max horsepower into a higher RPM range. You have to compensate for this by using a higher stall converter, more compression, and a lower (higher numerically) gear . Don't go overboard on cam selection for street use, a camshaft one step up from stock is hard to beat, especially is nothing else will be changed, this is critical on smaller engines. :Smarty:

Yup, I hear you about upgrading cams...

14 years ago, I rebuilt my 350, was going to use one of Kenne-Bell's moderate cams, but it was backordered, and time ran out, so I went with a 'GS' cam from Scoggins-Dickey in Lubbock (used to be big Buick parts place, now mostly nasty-car).

Basically a stock cam, and for years I've wished for a bigger cam. Not much, just one that will rev comfortably past 4500 rpm. Although, it does have LOADS of off-idle grunt...

Not that I'm complaining, just wishing I'd have had more time 14 years ago...

Ok, how about a recommendation for a cam that will make most LOW End torque.. for a Willys pickup. I'll have a stock .030 '70 high compression 350 from a GS. Plan to use a Performer if there is one and maybe a cam swap for max grunt. No rpm required.

    Thanks.

NOTNSS, For your Willy's: Look for Intake lift near .435 and Exhaust lift near .450 Duration of 240-250 intake and 250-260 exhaust with CL near113-114 should, pull like a Big Block.
