Finally, IMO among best doo-wops was by Capris, written in '61, released in '82, 20 years after era...

My spin on this was that the first true Rock 'n roll song was GEE, by the Crows.
BTW: My personal favorite Doo Wop song was the Del Vikings COME GO WITH ME.
If you include Christmas songs, the Drifters WHITE CHRISTMAS is tied with Darlene Love's CHRISTMAS as #1.

For the record, so was I. My next older brother is 12 years older then I am. I was exposed to a lot of big band music (which I still love). I can listen to Jimmy Dorsey and Clarence Frogman Henry back to back without any problem at all.

Korrie—In the 50s and 60s I grew up and worked for a time in the music business. Somehow I missed that tune along the way. The voice sounds like the lead for the Capris.

Interesting story with this record. Curtis Lee went to the studio to record this tune. Developed a of bit stage fright behind the mic. The Halos were in the building and they were asked to sing backup to help Curtis. If you listen, you can hear their Bass singer very well.

    And finally:

Times seemed so innocent to us back then even though stuff was going on that was not good...we were fairly insulated due to our ages, but on Nov. 22, 1963...
