An incredibly interesting, but forgotten song. I saw Gene Chandler sing live several times. I saw so many live back then-- even Elvis front row at Hotel International.

I can appreciate Doo wop, but I was always more of an R&B guy, Love BB King... and this guy, singing my favorite song of his..

    "

Everyone Knows the chorus, but I love the verses..

...always loved Ronnie Spector's voice. As for Chuck, my fav is "Promised Land." Phone company has blocked Norfolk-area TI(dewater) 4-1009 since '64. Also like his Xmas "Run Rudolph Run." Back in '99, wife and I scored Wolf Trap front row tickets for Chuck/Little Richard/Jerry Lee show. Richard invited "girls" onstage to dance while he played. Since we were front row, wife went up. We'll never forget that day...:cool:

If you were going "steady" with your best girl in 1958 this was probably your song.

...Jimmy Reed? Discovered him from R&R crossovers like "Bright Lights, Big City" and "Big Boss Man"...

    ...on a different note, today's Tina Turner's birthday, she's 80...

I saw Johnny M. sing live many times.

Chuck Berry also. Chuck would roll in to a gig by himself driving a Caddy. He would give the supplied back up musicians a hard time. But he was a show unto himself.
