The main problem with the "nostalgia" classes is that there's hardly any nostalgia to them...everyone is caught up with the numbers on the scoreboard, instead of trying to stay within the confines of period engine/chassis technology [sound familiar?]. We're all about running our vintage race cars, but are relegated to "exhibition" runs because their respective "nostalgia" classes are so far out there...I'm not talking little appearance or safety type stuff, I'm talking dry sumps, carbon fiber pieces, etc...stuff that wasn't prevalant 10 years ago, much less 30 years ago.

[Case in point, our buddy Kim Howie owns & races [high 9s!] the original Harrell '70 Pro Stock Camaro, which was meticulously restored to it's '70-'71 race trim, but it's illegal in the current Nostalgia Pro Stock class made for such cars because it doesn't run a dry sump or a Lenco. Same thing with our original Red Alert S/S Chevelle, the NSS guys told us it's "too new" and "it's an automatic"...]

Heck, I'll drive one around town all lettered-up, I just want to build something that looks period correct from the early 60's decked out in full race dress. It would be for my own personal use, not to try to compete at a National event with a bunch of incorrect looking nostalgia cars:idea2: Is it just me, or do the rest of you see something wrong with a Nostalgia car that has Weld racing wheels??Nothing nostalgic looking about those, or wheel tubs, etc.

Personally, I like gassers....especially the ones with straight axles and fenderwell headers. Like this:

I think these things break every rule in Pure Stock that exists...  Tom (or anyone else), go to the York Reunion/Nostalgia race sometime. I totally flipped out......

Closest I got to a Gasser. It was classified B/MP at Milan. Had I kept it, I would have put a straight axle under it. With the torsion bars cranked all the way up, this thing had a mind of its own sometimes.

Dad was on a straight axle kick for a while...started with a '65 Chevelle, then a '66 Nova, then this '62 Nova with history...
