I never would have guessed that there was a running Chevy Beretta left in the world.

I was just thinking that.....in my 5 years here at the Chevy dealer, I've never seen a Beretta come in. Or a Corsica. Or a Citation........

Funny thing is back in the day they were like cockroaches. They were EVERYWHERE.

I was actually mildly pleased to see someone driving a Chevette in good condition the other day. Before that I hadn't seen one in over a decade.

Such a shame, I like the 90s chevy's as its what a lot of friends drove in high school since they were cheap and plentiful.

A beretta story: My friend owned one and the power steering would go out at the most inopportune times. So we were cruising along and it went out, as usual. So as usual he huffed-grunted-and swore while making a turn until the steering wheel split in half. I think we were more surprised the steering wheel broke than ending up in a strangers yard.

My girlfriend (now my wife) bought a new 88 Beretta GT, 5 speed, 2.8 V6. The shift knob would not stay on no matter what you did. I used to call it the "Gutless Wonder" because that 2.8 had ZERO low end torque. I used to stall it all the time...

I saw a Vega this week. All Muscled out. And we know they never were. It was pretty mint though.

Agreed, Gutless down low. My wife, when she was 7 months pregnant with our first, chose the ditch instead of a head-on with her 81 Mustang. Rolled the Mustang and it was a total. We looked for over 2 weeks trying to find something she liked and ended up with an 88 Beretta GT 2.8 5 speed. She had NEVER driven a stick before and it was now up to me to teach her. I knew we were in trouble when I stalled it every single time we came to a stop on the way home and I had driven sticks all my life. I told her if she could drive this one, she could drive any clutch car out there, which is true. She prefer's a stick these days, but they are now becoming harder to find. We kept her 2008 Vibe to flat tow behind the motorhome and she still takes it out on occasion. 140,000 miles on the original clutch and she's the driver 99.9% of the time. I'd say she can properly drive a stick now, even a 2.8 Beretta/Corsica.
