all depends on size man, someone already said that. i have a casio EX-Z3 ... it's about the size of an altoids can, 3.2 megapixel, takes great pictures. my mom has a Nikon 4 megapixel camera, i forget the model and i'm lazy to look it up.. both are amazing cameras..

my petpeave with digital cameras.. atleast consumer cameras is that when you hit the shutter button you have to wait for a fraction of a second before it takes the picture.. it isn't instant like with film cameras.. digital SLR cameras are more like your film cameras in terms of speed. which is my next purcahse, i'm going with a Canon Digital Rebel this time.

they both do their own jobs.. the canon will be my action camera and professional quality picture camera.. while the casio is more for just taking with me wherever to snap pictures i'd never get otherwise.. it's so small you can just put it in your pocket and you barely know its there.. best of both worlds...

i've found out over the course of the past 8 months i've had my camera that i actually like photography.. i've taken 2200 pictures with my casio so far... in 8 months.. lol.. and i get tons of pictures with it because its always in my pocket, easy to carry and when i need it, i just grab it outta my pocket and take the picture.. it rocks

do your research.. what exactly will you be using the camera for? i could help ya narrow it down a bit for ya

Smaller may be better, but don't want something I can lose easily. My main purpose would be for business, repair, remodeling and home inspections. I would be taking pictures of things needing repaired or repairs I have made. Alot of my customers do not live in the area, I do alot of work on their beach houses. They ask me do replace a window and then I find out the framing is rotten I would like to be able to e-mail and print decent pictures for proof. Also, what about low light conditions, such as attics or crawl spaces? Then there would be the usual stuff like cars or parts whatever. I have set a limit of $400.00 for myself on this. Of Course the cheaper the better.

i've had zero problems with losing this thing. it's something you can keep in your pocket as long as you aren't like going to destroy it if its in your pocket being banged against crap.. metal case, and the lense goes all the way into the camera... so its really just the size of an altoids can.. i think you can probably get this thing for like $300 now.. plus with ANY digital camera you'll need to spend a bit more to buy a memory card if you plan on taking more than like 8 pictures with the camera...
