Just thought I'd add alittle something, if your car has not been put on a "diet", I'd guess that it's around 3800lbs without the driver. 3500 would be nice, my buddies '71 GS455 with him and full interior was 4100lbs, and he's like 175lbs. Nice looking car, carb. and converter changes will help, may want to know the weight before you get the converter. Gary G.
youre right i do need to get the car on a scale , i dont really want to strip the car down too much though i like the street car look . i will be getting a glass hood with a stage 2 scoop so the domi fits that should save like 50 pounds. i also took out the power booster put the battery in the trunk and took out the heater box ...mike
You should still get some good #'s with those 3.42's. Your on track with the dominator, intake, converter, and 35 degrees timing. You could also try a electric water pump. Its just drag on the crank. The moroso works great with the overdrive pulley and your cool down between runs would be dropped in half.
going from 30 total to 34-36, from what i have read you should see a big increess in H/P, SAY 20-40??
What kind of converter are you getting? You said your currently running a 2000 stall, is it an 11" or 12". How well built is it? You should try the intake, carb, and nitrous to see if it will turn your 2000 stall to a 3000+. Then see if and how much a difference the higher stall makes. Just a thought. A 200 shot should wake things up a bit. We'll be waiting for an update. :TU:
the converter i bought was a B&M hole shot 3000 with an anti ballooning plate , i didnt really build this motor to be a nitrous motor but if i cant get it to the point where im happy with it straight motor i WILL hit with the happy stuff. this is a pic of my new carb set up , it just looks much better , i think it will help the top end. At least i know that it can't be the carb, or the heads and intake that are holding it back we'll see what happens when i get it to the track . mike
That thing looks great under the hood! Who's alternator & Pulleys are you running? I'd bet the carb will step you up for sure. I never trusted the vaccum secondary carbs. My car picked up a full 8 tenths and 5+ MPH going from a Q-jet to a Holley 950. Now I'm wondering if I should have gone with a Dominator...but it see's a fair amount of street miles. Anyway keep us posted...I hope you have a roll bar :beer
i'll be driving this thing on the street as well, i drive it 50 miles to the track , and yes i do go out to the hampton race track to test and tune. if i can get .8 tenths from this carb and converter swap ill be more than happy.that would put me around 10.90s in the cool weather. i dont know when im going to get to the track im having trouble getting a glass hood for the car , which i now need because of the height of the dominator ,ill keep you guys posted when i do make it there mike..
