Drum brakes 69 skylark

  1. Any recommendations on brake .My brakes were going out so I got a new master cyclinder, so I went to
Bleed them the old fashion way realizing that no fluid was going to the back brakes. Removed the splitter in the rear. It’s a rubber piece. Cleaned it all out nothing still coming out..open for any help as possible. Checked the booster and it was clear of no liquids.

Make sure your booster pushrod isn't too long, causing the master to be activated when it's bolted down.

When you remove the rubber line from the rear hard line, you still have nothing coming out?

  3. Yes back end still has no fluid.

Did you bench bleed the M/C. I would have someone pump the brakes, then open the line at the m/c to see if you’re getting fluid. If so repeat and open at t-connection before rubber hose, if fluid pump brakes and open at bleeder screw, if no, fluid the rubber hose may be collapsed. You may also need a brake bleeder tool or a brake bleeder pump which will pull the fluid from m/c to the bleeder screw.

If you have someone push the brake pedal down when you're trying to bleed the rears, are you getting fluid? Or are you just trying to vacuum fluid from the rear?

Some times when you can not bleed the brakes it is because the proportional valve is tripped - 1969 should not have one, but does yours have it?

  8. Yes I have a porting valve. I just put on a new master cylinder now it’s leaking from behind master cylinder against the bosster

  9. I’m having them pumped and getting no fluids to the back

I think 12 lives is on the right track. Since you're not getting fluid before the rear rubber line.

I had a similar problem because I didn't check the pushrod length. I just assumed most MC's were trypically the same (short or long). I could not get fluid to the rear becuase the brakes were already slightly applied. Old pushrod was slightly too long on new MC. There is something else to check.

I mentioned that early in the thread.

They make a tool to hold the proportioning valve in neutral so it will flow both ways.

  15. By the way do you no what the part called

  16. Quick questions I have a strong pedal when the car if off. The pedal is pretty tight. But when I turn on my engine my pedal goes straight to the floor with no play of being tight like there no breaks

  17. Ok so just going on I have drum breaks all the way around. So i don’t have a portioning valve I have a distribution block.

I’m still not convinced you have the right pushrod in your booster to match the master. That will cause a LOT of pedal travel before you brakes even come close to engaging.

In post #8 you said the master is leaking into the booster. Remove it and probably the booster. That would be a good time to check the above.
