As maybe you noticed I’m building a display Stage 1 engine and still looking for a couple things, if You can help ! 1. Throttle position solenoid ( dashpot) FOUND! 2. Valve cove bolts (ToddGS is out) 3. Thermal-vacuum tree with 3 ports, goes on front drivers side intake 4. Black distributor cap FOUND!
Not mine but this guy has more listed......... https://www.ebay.com/itm/275275695283?hash=item4017b5c4b3:g:1wYAAOSwr2tfFcg~
I am on road but have #1 and #3 off a standard 72 455. I can get photos Saturday if do not get any before then.
I was wondering what you meant by a TP solenoid. Us part guys..no pun intended lol. Call that part a Dashpot.
Ok then DashPot & bracket.I ain’t the smartest guy! I know ToddGS sells them, I was hoping to get an original cheap, working or not it’s only for display.
I do have some vacuum tree's but someone on here may have some cheaper . . . . Mine are cleaned up and ready for concours type builds https://www.stage1restoration.com/product/oem-vacuum-tree/ I have these caps if you're interested ?!?!
Thanks Todd but mine requires the black plastic one they switched to mid-year. They actually sell it on RockAuto $20
So you're looking for one like this: I'd be willing to bet the one on Rock Auto is different. Probably closer to this:
As I have said earlier in this post, I’m not trying to be Concourse correct, it would cost way more than I’m willing to spend. This is an engine that would not fool a Buick guy, but would impress Chevy , Pontiac, Olds and Mopar guys in its beautiful engineering that put them a car length behind back in the Golden Era of Muscle Cars.
I RECEIVED THe DASH POT ……AS I thought I can’t use it I need the Throttle position Solenoid like I first said but was corrected…dang it! I guess I shouldn’t have posted a picture of the dashpot but I didn’t know what it looked like, but I knew it was a solenoid for when AC is on.
Still in need of 6 valve cover bolts and retainers, the short ones, I have the long ones with stalk to hold spark plug wire clips. Any condition !

Those solenoids and brackets are very specific to application. Contrary to popular belief, they are meant to drop the throttle down when the car is shut off to prevent dieseling. People wire them to run only when AC is on all the time, though.
I didn’t know for sure what they are for, I guess I just took someone’s word for it, on Mustangs it for AC.
