John, I need to get a little further with my writing, and then I will get in touch with you to proof read your piece of the story. In the last 3 months I have learned quite a bit, and you will be surprised with how this engine was originally fitted out in 1970. The three of us, myself, Brad Conley, and Mark Reeves pulled this off with a bit of monetary help, and with help from Dennis Manner and a few other Buick brothers. Duane PS. I have something for you, so PM me your address so I can send it out.
stage 2 tunnel port is that a offenhouser intake?was that the intake that was part of the 4 bolt main block setup that was in testing? :bglasses:
nope but I don't have the spec's but I was cleaning out the shop and came across my factory stage 2 cam that has been kicking around FOR EVER ou: Do I feel like a meat head, I threw it in the scrap pile. There not worth anything are they?Chris
stage 2 cam well if you are scraping the cam, scrape it my way.dont know what its worth?how many miles on it?
dreeesh, The very top piece is the middle section of a Chrysler 440 or 426 Offenhouser intake that was cut out and welded to hand fabricated pieces to create the intake. Duane
So that is where the other Chrysler parts came in. I remember him telling me about it being a sheet metal two 4bbl high rise with some Chrysler adaptations but was never really spelled out. He also mentioned running a Chrysler Hemi 4 speed transmission behind at least some of his 455 Buicks because he said that was the only thing that could hold up to the beatings he gave them at the drag strip. :3gears: I never knew of such an adaptor(Buick to Chrysler trans adapt) but after hearing about the intake maybe there was one of those behind the Experimental 4 bolt block.
OH MY GOD!!!!!!!!!! NIRVANNA :TU: I would love to do a Nostalia Stage 2 Racer Show car with that stuff.
Dennis, Didn't hear back from you on my PM. Did you get my address okay, or do I need to resend it? Best Regards, John
Interesting about the chrysler intake thing , I met a guy that supercharged a GS 15 years ago and he used a 44 intake for his 8 7 to 1 blower . He said it takes some machine work and a set of spacer plates
Oops, would help if I addressed the correct person! Sorry about that, I was reading your post (Dennis) and typed your name instead of Duane's. So let's try that again. Duane, Did you get my PM with the info you requested? Sorry for the confusion.:TU: Regards, John
Well, if these heads are in a car, how can you tell? I know of a 72 Skylark sitting in the weeds that the owner says has Stage 2 heads on it. These would be for a 350 cu in. Been sitting for about 15 yrs.
Stage 2 heads were for 455's only. And they're were no exhaust manifolds made for them. You had to run headers.
John- the style with the vertical freeze plugs were only on the very early prototype heads....very few made that way:beer
Guy didn't see your post before I copied the picture. Yep, guess you are right, just one of those things always going through my brain when I see any heads laying around. ANY freeze plugs, any freeze plugs?!!!! (along with heavy panting and drooling ha ha):Brow:
