    Fascinating thread...............

What about nailhead rare parts...."D" heads,
exhaust manifolds, "X" dual four intakes.....

Maybe a new thread of factory V8 Buick
    performance, prototype, and experimental engines
    and parts?

Marty, Give it a shot , Start a new thread in FAQ or the Nailhead Section.
    That would be interesting also.

Let me give this a try.

I will attempt to send a photo of a "stock"
    401/425 exhaust manifold.

Marty, I mean start a whole new thread under the Nailhead or FAQ section.
Under something like " Any Photos or Info On X Nailheads etc"

"Come on jump in with both feet and get them wet":TU:

    Dennis, thanks for your reply.

I think a forum, under "Engine Tech", entitled "Engine History, Experimental
and Prototype" would solicit responses from all that have rare nailhead,
400/430/455, and small block engines and/or engine parts.

Stage 2 and 3, export (high power equipment) kits, and so on could be
brought forward into this new forum.

My previous post was simply a test........I never posted with an attachment
    (photo) before.

I think that under "FAQ" allows a very important topic to be "buried", and the
need for a new forum is required.

Thanks again Dennis for your input,

    Marty

If the Mods don't give it a new section ,but it gets enough responses
it can become a "sticky" like the" Stage 2" thread and will be at the top of the section.

Hi guys, what would be the nastalgic value of a factory purchased Stage 2 cam. This cam has never been run and has the factory 2 rings ( or 3) cant remember at the front of the cam. Its in my dads garage and I told him he need not bother installing because all newer cams have been better engineered.

Also if anyone is intersted. I have pictures of Buicks only prototype 4 block main 455, the guy that owns (owned) it lived here in AZ. There are packed in my storage so I wont be able to post them until I have a new home. Just info. Enjoy.

I think they made more than one 4 bolt main proto engine.

I remember Ed Mcham coming to bg with a red 70 with hilborn injection on it,dont remember if it was a stg2 car or not,the lady with him, janelle had a white 70 gsx, last i heard he was in oklahoma with heath issues, think that was last time i saw him at bg,john or brad might remember.there were also 2 sets of titanium valves that i know of,richard said he had a set and a friend of mine had a set in his mtr.didnt the stg 2 pistons have a ton of cyl wall clearance?as far as i know listed specs for the cams were not the actual cam specs,AJ

    Nickbuickgs,
According to Buick's service recommendations for heavy duty applications, the running clearance for the 400 (#1394179) & 430 (#1394180) pistons should be at .006-.010 and the 455 (#1394878) piston at .006-.008. The 455 piston weighed the same as the 400 production pistons and required rebalance or the use of the 400 balancer and flywheel/flexplate. Hope this helps. Jay

I just wanted to publicly say thanks To Jay and also to this V8Buick board.

Jay thank you for giving me the opportunity to purchase this rare package.
I know it's a hard thing to sell or "let go of". As I have a hard time selling some of the spare "rare" parts I have.
    Thank you Jay.

And thank you to V8Buick. I wouldn't be able to locate a lot of parts and info if it were not for V8Buick. And would probably not have made the connection with these heads.

The heads I have on the Reynolds car are the second version Stg2 heads, or more commonly known as the production Stg2 heads. They fit the bill as these are The Buick Stg2 head and are a nice virgin set without porting ect.

I knew the car obviously had the vertical boss style head on it in 1969-70 as these were the frist kind made and the car was used in the testing of the Stg2 program with feedback from Jim Bell to Dennis Manner at Buick. But I didn't think I would be able to find a set since there were only a handfull made.
What I didn't know was this style head basically were the prototype's or at least for sure the set Jay had (thanks Jay!) are prototypes.
What is even more exciting for me, these are more than likely the exact heads from this car when it was used for the testing, as far as what Jim Bell had told Jay. There are some things I need to confirm with Dennis Manner but it's looking like these were the proto's used.
Again, Thanks Jay. And V8 for making this happen.
    Guy
Oh, and Jay the package made it home safe...

    northcorner Guess what I'm thinking..

What a great thread with all this Buick history!! Guy, it's great to hear that this finally happened for you and Jay. It's also a great relief to know where that rare package is going. I know personally that it was much easier for Jay knowing that it would go to such a project. Congratulations Guy!!:3gears:
