What's not fair about it? You match up against a car with equal qualifying et. Who cares what size the motor is. A high revving small block has a peak horsepower equal to a lot of big blocks that can only dream about those RPM's. If I remember my engineering from many years ago, hp is the rate of changing torque. In calculus form it's the 4th power of RPM and torque is the 3rd power. Higher the RPM, higher the hp.

I never feel bad about being matched up against a big block except when they're sandbagging and go flying past 10 MPH faster at the top end.......or get out in front and toy with you. In all the matches over the 10 years we ran that car, we were only matched up against 2 small blocks. A 327 Corvette and Pegleg's freight train supercharged Y block 57 Ford. (Freight train as that's what it sounded like when it went flying past me in the traps.)

I've never had a problem with a heads up 2 out of 3 match race against modified cars either (with the break out/DQ provisions). I think we're missing a lot of really fabulous cars (and a lot of very fabulous owner/builder/drivers) by being so strict with the rules...guess you have to draw the line somewhere and it really is difficult once you drift away from the way the cars were built in the factory.....even though we actually have.

I personally think it's fun to blow away a rum-pop,rum-pop Flowmaster equipped Mustang (must be a race car to sound like that......"I'm skeered"

OK, back to my nap. Sorry........:pp

Picturing Hodges behind the wheel of his Mystery Machine is so very wrong!
Unless of course he was wearing a flowered Hawaiian shirt, plaid shorts, and flip-flops (and giving me the finger). Then it would be OK.:pp :pp

Here is a link http://www.fastraces.org/ to the FAST website. There you will find the rules for both FAST and Factory Stock cars. Also you will find the race formats and alot of information about the classes.

Bring you car, YOU WILL HAVE FUN!!

Well I 'm glad he decided to bring the van.I was a little worried ,after seeing the list of cars in the P/S class, that I had no one to run with my slug.Should be worth the trip to run now.Rumor has it that he is driving it to the races, camping in it,racing it,and driving back home.I guess he has some pull because I didn't think vans were allowed. When are those new rules coming out anyways??

I could only take that van to Lebanon Valley, where I'd sit at the end of the shut down lane and hit my bong with the local hillbillies.......:pp
