This past week, I finally found time to go thru Kennys box of CONSOLE ITEMS.... a few nicely restored CHROME CONSOLE TOPS, but no complete shifters. Gotta few shifter odd's'n ends, felt brackets, broken handles & stuff but not enuf of anything to build a shifter .. . .daingit. Wheelz, Tampa Bay
Nick, I have 3 console tops 65-67. remove the shifter and shifter plate, and the chrome console tops are the same. One I have is EXTRA NICE setup that I have been saving, I will be completely restoring for future sale as a complete 67 auto 3 speed setup. The other two are decent, perhaps minor pimpling here'n there, nevertheless NOT total PITTED OUT tops. . .basically acceptable driver condition consoles. What do these consoles run? Trying to decide if I want to swap the bench out for buckets and a console.
Last time I sold a 65 - 66 2 sp console with shifter, shift plate & harness. . .it was years ago but IIRC it was around $750-800. You may come across one or two less expensive, however, I can almost guarantee they will be severely pitted. Nice consoles are getting hard to come by and restoring all the tiny little, thin ribs is pretty-much impossible. Years ago I sent three out for quotes and ALL came back from the vendors with a note: NOT INTERESTED. . . Wheelz, Tampa Bay
Did you ever find a shifter & Console ?? IF not, I have one that's complete and in excellent condition throughout. Correct for 70 - 72. Black handle and Black Console so more so for 71 / 72's. Call me if you're interested otherwise I'll be listing it soon. Todd
