Picked up a new mag today....."Premier Issue" it says, so apparently a new player on the block. It's called "Collector Car Market Review" and touts itself as "The definitive source for collector car market information". Here's some of the Buick numbers they list.....the prices shown are for perfect cars in number one condition.... 1970 GS Hardtop........24,400 1970 GS Convert........27,725 1970 GSX..................32,125 1971 GS Hardtop........23,425 1971 GS Convert........27,450 1971 GSX..................30,850 To all of above, add 20% for Stage 1 option, 5% for 4-speed manual and deduct 8% for no a/c.....other misc for manual steering, bench seat, etc. Under $35K for a perfect Stage 1, four-speed convertible? I'll take two...
Damn... You mean to tell me I'm at my limit of the cars value already, and it isn't close to going back together yet. ou:
Sorry, Yards....guess I forgot that part. What's shown is for 455 cars....350's are at about $10K less in #1 condition! :eek2: By the way....69 Riv info....w/ 430 engine....again, #1 condition... 2dr Htp $9,650 GS $10,325 deduct 10% for no a/c
i dont care how little these buicks are selling for because i will NEVER sell mine, allthough i feel bad for those restoring and trying to come out with a profit, or maybe just even. with the increase of prices of these cars comes the detrachment of the people that truly love them, they will become more of a collectible to say "hey man, guess what i have in my 30+ car collection, a $70,000 1970 gs stage one, all new nos pannels,ya it also has a totaly stock 454" ou: " while the real buick collector will be scratching his head wondering where all the cheep parts and cars went o No: ,
Cole's post is a bit "tonque in cheek" since he full well knows that I have a couple of 6 figure GS's in the shop here.. Along with a couple more high 5 figure cars. Those guides are just that.. guides for average GS's.. you start talking the rare color combo and equiptment stuff, and you can use that book to line you birdcage.. JW
....I dont know If i was looking at the same one as Cole is referencing, but it said "71 Riviera......blahblahblah.....deduct 10% for non-455 engine" OooooKay ou: :blast: They should state they are self-proclaimed idiots not "....the Definitive Source"
Try this site, I think it's a lot more accurate................ http://www.nadaguides.com/uv/select...=12&wPr=1&wPg=2030&ct=11&mk=1031&yr=1970&da=0 CLEVER ONE
Yeah, what Alan said!!!!!!!!!!!! Hey Cole, do they list an e-mail address or phone number for readers that want to....ya know......suggest where they can stick it....er I mean provide helpful suggestions?
The whole thing is absurd because the production numbers are so low on some of these cars. There can't be more than half a dozen numbers matching 71 4spd big block convertibles left alive out of the 27 originally made. So who's to say what they're worth? Certainly not just a % adder for the 4 spd tranny like is mentioned here. At least I'd like to believe that since I've got one.
Cole - they have to be right. Hemmings stated the same thing HERE and HERE. Wow. I can now 'definitively' convince my wife that my car really is NOT a down payment on a new house. p
Well I tell you guys, the prices are still too low. With everything else going for a buzzillion dollars, our cars still aren't recognized by the "lugnuts" doing all these price guides. I look at it this way-no matter what the price,I'm not selling.
Quite right, JW! A clean, correctly restored Buick will bring WAY more than this book shows..... Anyway, to answer Rick's question, they do NOT list an e-mail address (shows how "in-touch" they are with today's technology....makes you wonder about how in touch they are with today's prices!). The rag is published by VMR International, out of North Grafton, MA. Editor's name is John Iofolla (also listed as the "Publisher). They give a phone # 508-839-6707, and fax # 508-839-6266. They give a toll free # (800-867-4685), but I think that's for subscriptions. That's all I got....
You may think that is all you got... But what you don't know is that your the proud owner of an absolutely fabulous 70 GS rear bumper.. that I picked up last night for your ride from my plating jobber.. Overall, prolly one of the nicest replates I have ever seen.. remember that great core I told you about.. it's all shiny now.. Come on by Dawg, drag that Kid of yours with you so we can talk motors for his new car, and scope it out.. it's worth the trip.. I will be here late tonight............ :eek2: :TU: JW
COOL! Might just have to swing by tonight! By the way, don't know if he asked or not, but.........got an open trailer that we can borrow for the weekend???? ou:
Sure, all you have to do is stop by the scrapyard over in Anoka, and get rid of the scrap steel on it.. JW
