I went tonight. It looked very accurate and enjoyed it. I would have liked to see more history on the AC Cobra but thats just me because i have one.
Not to hijack a thread, but most of you would probably be interested in Midway. Two thumbs down. My biggest problem with it was a paid for foreign influence. Looking forward to Ford vs Ferrari...
Got a chuckle when they asked Shelby how fast one of his Cobras could run in the qaurter mile and he said 13s. My 50 fastest chart has it listed as 12:20@118. I always wanted to build my own Cobra but after a while the urge wore off seeing dozens of them at the local car shows. I don't like driving anything that everyone else has, still think they look awesome. But, I haven't met a Cobra yet that my ZR1 can't outrun !
Saw the matinee yesterday (still paid $10). I am typically not impressed with movies enough to justify spending the money, as it seems as though they are bad remakes and / or out on red box in weeks for a $1. But, I broke down and saw it with the Mrs. and we both really enjoyed it, I think Bale is a great actor, the guy can morph in to any role it seems. I enjoyed the history regarding Ford and what was likely the real corporate climate at the time. The cars were awesome, but car guys will notice some inaccuaracies with models and the timelines, overall worth seeing.
He was giving out specs for the small block. It's the 427 it's faster.. It seems to me the cobras will pull crowd more than me exotics will. I guess where you're at they're plentiful of them. They're probably a lot of factory fives. They sold over 7000-8000 kits worldwide. but there are other manufacturers that are closer to the original and there are some that are just made out for pure Performance. I am on a waiting list on a cobra replica you're at the waiting list is over two years. So in the meantime I'm building my tomahawk 540 for it. if the wait is too long, I'll probably end up going to factory five route and doing a cobra Daytona r. Some of the Cobra replicas have hypercar performance. Lateral g's ranging from 1.1 to 1.3 +, acceleration figures 0-100 in 5-6 seconds or so ,and quarter miles times in the nines to high 8s.. streetcar. Power rangers from 650 to 1300..
I wouldn't take that line to heart... Dont forget this is a POS Disney movie.. The same clowns that brought you Herbie goes to Le Mans... And Herbie Won
Ron? How about Al Unser jr. Corvette? I follow and talk to Bruce who actually runs a Shelby Cobra CSX3107 and competes with it. He's the original owner. All the original Powertrain and rear end is gone, packed up, and stored away. Mind you, the car was appraised at 1.5 million dollars. Bruce doesn't believe in just storing a car in the waiting for the appreciation go up. Life's too short use the car for what it was intended to do. I highly followed this motto. Because in the end it's still a car. Anyhow, the engine and his car is a 427 struck out to a 440 and of course, it's all aluminum. It's got 900hp @ 9200 RPM. He now has fast fuel injection on it and uses the traction control on it. It is backed by a jerico transmission that use for NASCAR so you know it has dog gears and such. His IRS is from Kirkham Motorsports. the frame itself has been welded up in certain points in the original upper and lower control arms having modified to get more caster. The steering it's from Applegate who is no longer in business but the ratio of The Rack is really quick. He still has original pindrive on all four wheels and now either runs on 18 or 19 wheels. He has telemetry on the car and all data is recorded. He usually competes against All Unser Junior in the big class for autocross. And Bruce's car has won several times for the year against al. They just found out during testing Al's car was better than his on concrete. So after reviewing telemetry data oh, he was losing time under braking. So what is a former for engineer do? Go get the aftermarket ABS system from Bosch. Mind you, it set you back $8,000. He had to fabricate wheel sensors so data can be read back to the computer and just accordingly. Before he used to hit -0.9 g under braking. he asked out Unser what his dad it was at under braking for his Corvette and it was a lot harder than that. With this new system during testing he's now at -1.3 g under braking. Granted, this is an F1 stuff which they are usually up to -5 g's under braking oh, it's a movement in the right direction. Bruce only drives a car on road courses while he has someone else drive the car on the autocross. With all the suspension modifications he's done to his car he's managed a peak of 1.37 g'z from last year's goodguys autocross.
Went to see this last night with the wife unit. We loved it. My only wish is that it wold have been released in the summer so we could have driven our Cobra to see it ;-)
Almost makes me want to get either a GT 40 or Cobra. This Superformance Co. really has fine workmanship. I have checked out their display before. https://www.superformance.com/factory-models/shelby
Had a chill out Sunday arvo yesterday and watched it on Netflix, daughter enjoyed it too. I've seen the movie advertised and might go see it but I'm cringing at how Disney will portray Bruce & Denny with their Kiwi accents .
A cobra roller from Superformance is near 50k. No Powertrain. In the US, you mainly have Kirkham, Shelby, ERA, Superformance, Hurricane, Everett, Line star, factory five, shell valley, antique and collectibles.... there are two coachworks shops that will do Aluminum bodies for Cobras and Ferrari 250GTO. Note: when Carroll restarted making the Cobras, Daytonas, .. Shelby had ERA and Superformance make the glass bodies. If you wanted aluminum bodies, Kirkham did them. Then ERA backed out and just Superformance for 'glass and Kirkham. FWIW, the quality of 1990s Shelby's to current are subpar..most feel the ERA and Kirkham are the creme Dela creme. Kirkham cobra or Daytona roller is 100k. The GT40 roller is over 100. RCR, DBR, Tornado do GT40 kits. Superlite makes a variation of the GT40.
Very sharp looking car there that stands out from the crowd! I met a guy at a show who had 90,000 miles on his GT, good for him!
Hi all, Me and the wife went yesterday, loved it, also watched the Netflix 24hr war move last night both were good. Funny thing my wife said to me after the movie was she wouldn't want a Ford just because they orchestrated the finish and robbed Ken Miles of the win. Either way worth the watch, also if you have Netflix watch that as well. Regards,
Everyone I know thats gone to see it has thoroughly enjoyed it and gave positive reviews. Even our young lady receptionist at work who has zero interest in cars and didnt want to see it, but her fiance dragged her with him. She even said she'd see it again.
