i know i need a rulebook but, as any informatin. a pic or explanation of any tricks as how to do it is best since im no visionary or engineer but a good mechanic and welder. make sense? i would love another chance to check out mark and tylers cars again. racing people i know dont let people look at anything free. they will tell you. for a fee i will fix it up for you.
I don't want to push the wrong buttons here, but I think you have to be careful. The problem is that sometimes it comes across like you're more interested in having someone show you or tell you rather than going to get the information yourself. I don't think it's fair to others expect them to take time out of their day to quote the rulebook to you if you don't have the wherewithall to study it yourself. It makes perfect sense to ask questions afterwards when something isn't clear, but at least make the attempt up front, if that makes sense. o No: You don't have to be an engineer to understand it, last time I looked it was targeting somewhere around a ninth grade reading level. Read through this link. It's probably a bit dated but it'll get you really close if not exactly where you need to be. Super easy to follow too. http://www.hotrod.com/techarticles/nhra_legal_rules_regulations_time_brackets/index.html The trick is trying to guess at where you'll fall time wise. Generally you want to find a car equiped like yours and set up for that time or the next faster one.
devon, im 22 ive never been to a real dragstrip or ever been through a tech inspection. just trying to get some tips and tricks. i dont know where to get a nhra rule book nor do i have any way to buy things online. i have to call on a friend 50 miles away in college with a full time job to use his credit card so internet buying is a huge pita. im sorry you feel that way about me but that's what this forum is for is to ask questions. i also don't have internet anymore so i use a phone and it makes things twice as difficult.
I was afraid you'd misunderstand. That's not what I think about you. I'm just warning you that others may though, that's all. Making your circumstances known helps you a great deal. Realize that there have been people in the past that ask questions repeatedly that could have simply been answered by a Chassis Service Manual, and for whatever reason you can't get some of them to help themselves even when the thing is available for free for online viewing by clicking a link. That's the stereotype you could end up fighting from time to time, that's all. Devon P.S. I wish the NHRA rule book could be viewed online, but so far I've only seen obsolete versions. It's because it's a profit point for them which is understandable.
right. if i could just get a rulebook through a parts store it wouldnt be so bad ive been searching battery relocation and rear firewall stuff but the tiny letter and 50 pages of wasted reading and my questions still remain its a double headache. i dont mean to come off lazy. i go out of my way to help people but when im puzzled i like having different opinions that way i dont have to learn anything the hard waw and hurt myself or others or even fail tech cause i skipped something
Lonnie, How far is the track from you? Might be worth a trip down just to talk with the Tech guy. List all your questions down before hand. Just a thought.
Lonnie go read my link. It has the basic info you need. Stop trying to worry about super specific details until you know the exact time you're running. If you can't get the link to work than say so and I'll do a full copy paste so you can read it here.
talke to ralph sr today and made a list of things i need. anyone know of a brand of driveshaft loop that fits good? is the summit universal one any good? how do you wire up a nuetral safety switch?
Tell us more about your setup. Are you running a Chevelle column or console shifter, or some aftermarket one? When it comes to new questions about stuff, don't hesitate to start a new topic if it's outside of the fuel system discussion, you stand to get fresh input that way. Devon
i will have a b and m shifter before long. getting it from board member. but now its a column shift. im using a switch to start and not a key btw. as soon as i get a day under 100 out i will hook up my other column with the key and rewire it factory.
Will that take care of the neutral safety switch issue then, at least for the trip to the track? I have no wiring diagrams to link to for the Chevy. The B&M shifter, if complete, should have its own neutral switch plus one for reverse lights, but you'll still have to tap into the existing wiring harness to make that and reverse lights work ok. well i made one out of a mail jeep door for the back but it looks ghetto but my seat will cover it. the top piece will be a little more difficult. i wish someone made a kit with the sealer and everything. that would be nice
You want a helmet with a 2010 snell that way it's good for 11 years a 2005 snell will be done @ the end 2016 instead of the end of 2021. Jamie
Off the main topic. After looking over 2000 ads on E-bay for Chevelle parts , I did find these. with air. http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=150477282992&ssPageName=STRK:MEWAX:IT without air. http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=150522710081&ssPageName=STRK:MEWAX:IT
