There is something seriously wrong with getting excited about $1.82.9 gas But I have a feeling they are gonna start to rob us blind again tomorrow.
What gets you is the fact that if gasoline goes down a dime, people get all excited and think they're getting a bargain. Look at it this way,we're all paying way too much and the oil companies are making a serious profit at our expense. Shame on them.
I do know that about 65cents a gallon around here is tax. but feel gas is only worth about $1 a gallon $1.50 for the good stuff.
I just paid $1.98 for 93 octane. This station is less than a mile from my house and always cheaper the everywhere else. The guy makes a killing too with cars at every pump all day long.
Gas Price $1.80 for 87 octane here in Terre haute, IN. right on I-70. Was $1.99 less than a week ago, but we all quite buying it so it went back down! (just kidding). Couch
I just filled up this morning. It was $2.05 for the cheap stuff I think that's just the start for this winter though. We live in a big old farm house, and will use @1500 gallons of fuel oil this winter to heat it :eek2: That is going to be a huge expense this winter Dan :3gears:
You ever try them small ceramic heaters??? They cost $15-$20 each and put out great amount of heat and use little energy. Ya need one for each room but it cost less to use them, then to let the big electric furnace run all the time. [I have electric everything] usually $300 a month bill stays under $200 now like it was summer time.
64 Skybird, My whole thing is that diesel cost alot less than gasoline to refine and the difference should be passed onto the consumer, instead of getting taxed more. I realize truckers are having serious issues with fuel prices. This in turn creates higher prices at the supermarkets, auto parts etc. They have to pass their burden down the line and I can't blame them. It's these damn oil companies and the government that win in the end. :af:
Companies that make 200billion in profits a year shouldn't need to robe people at the pump. But they want 201billion next year. Their level of greed is beyond belief. As like they could even begin to spend the loot. They just want more.
95.9/litre works out to $4.27/Cdn. gallon & $ 3.64 US gallon. $ 3.64 Cdn. is about $2.69 US?? Regular self-serve. Boy, I'm sure glad I traded the F250 with V-10 in for a smaller F-150! Last spring was doing a lot of travelling for work, dumping $ 125-130 worth of gas into that thing every two days!
stg1dom, I agree that diesel costs less to produce than gasoline, it's just a fact that refineries are ramping up production of home heating fuel for winter. Home heating fuel is a slightly different product than diesel. Another factor is that, in spite of increased demand, NO new refineries have been built since the 1970's ( I believe). This is a result of stiffer EPA rules which have essentially made new refineries cost prohibitive. It is enough that existing refineries spend milions upon millions each year, just to stay abreast of new EPA mandates. I am in no way defending Big Oil, just being realistic. Oil is now a global commodity, so any arguement that we should produce all oil domestically, just won't wash. In that such scenario, Big Oil would simply charge the going world price anyway, and there's not much we could do about it. Yes, trucking companies must somehow pass on the higher cost down the line, otherwise, they would cease to exist. I do not like to think what would happen if 50% or more trucks stopped transporting goods tomorrow. Think about events happening in Haiti right now with hurricane relief, not pretty. Your last line pretty much says it all, Big Oil and Big Government win in the end. Guess we should invest in oil stocks :Brow: In the meantime, I'll just drive my vehicles a little slower and a little less, and my big rig (Company's truck) will seldom see the other side of 63 MPH. Let's all wish for a mild winter in the American Northeast, where most home heating fuel is used. Time for me to get to work, See you on the road  Tom
Prices are staying steady??? I am confused. Just when I get use to "gouge me at the pump" plan they got going on, oil hit an all time high. And gas prices don't go up or down???
Gas has went up here, still not "as high" as it was 6 months ago but still up from 3 weeks ago....went to Glasgow Ky yesterday to pick up my Shelby Dakota and gas there was not bad at all....1.75 for the 87 and 1.95 for the 93....20 cents cheaper then here.
