Sure, but that half of the problem is most vocal. Sometimes it's hard to refrain from saying..."get over it. you want toys that use lots of gas, get used to it" o No:
As long as the demand rises, so will prices. It is simple economics: The gas producers track the consumer price sensitivity index. They raise prices, and watch demand. The goal is to get the highest price possible. The only way to combat high prices is to reduce demand. If everyone cut gas consumption by 10%, prices would drop significantly. However, people continue to drive 90MPH, and act like gas costs 5 cents a gallon. Gas will be at least $2.50 a gallon by summer. Much more if there is any disruption of supply.
I live in central Fla. and just topped off at $2.25 per . Saw premium swill at $ 2.85 . Canadians get an imperial gallon, which I think is 1 1/3 US gal. A friend in London,England told me that they pay approx. $8. per gal. They buy it by the liter. Gasoline costs approx. the same anywhere. It is the taxes added that make s it higher ,from one place to the other. Saudi Arabian gas is .70 per gal. This sucks.
That's not true, your mate was thinking Imperial gallons (4.456 liter) instead of US Gallons (3.785 liter), so it's not US$ 8.00 for 1 US gallon. We pay US$ 6.88 for 1 US gallon here in the Netherlands, petrol is cheaper in the UK. 1 liter = 1,44 Euro = US$ 1.82 3.785 x 1.82 = US$ 6.88 for 1 US gallon :Smarty:
Canada has gone metric and gas is sold by the liter. Today I saw 91 octane at $1.04 Cdn/liter. The Cdn dollar is roughly at $0.82 US and the imperial gallon is 20% more in volume than a US Gallon. Erik
One down side of the litre is the increment of price increase. Ie a 5 cent jump in price per litre is actual like 19 cents a gallon. The only way to beat them is join them by investing in oil companies.
$2.28 regular, $2.44 for premium here. First time since I got the summit that $20 didn't fill the tank. Why would they make a fuss when most of them have a hand in the oil company's pocket?
Yes Trev, Same thing happened here 3 years ago when we changed from Dutch Guilders to Euro's: 1 Euro = 2.20 Guilder. So every raise by 1 Eurocent is in fact 2.2 old Guilder cents... Nowadays everything has changed from 1 Guilder to 1 Euro: 1 glass of beer used to be 2 Guilders, now it's 2 Euro (and that's 4.44 Guilders...) ou: That Euro was the biggest mistake ever for Europe, only countries like Portugal and Greece are making a big profit out of it, the rich countries are paying now for them.... :Smarty:
yes it was a big mistake. i was in germany and left there in 2002 when it was 1 $ for 1.18 euro. i bought 6200 euros then and now my 5000 has become close to 8000$ but now i cant afford to go on vaction. 5 euros or 8$ to eat at macdonalds they are out of their f uqing mind. :af:  its not the euro its the teuro(expensive) in german ________ Buy Cannabis Seeds
gas here in my town is $2.19 reg, 2.29 premium     this is so crazy!! when the gauge in my 75 le sabre barely moves off of full, i immediately fill it,is only way to afford it. we need to get our elected officials off their lazy a$$es and get things under control, like a price cap at $1.50 gal. write your representatives today, tell them what you think!! in the meantime, enjoy your buicks!! :3gears: :3gears:
That's true Garyd, But don't forget that because of all the things going on in Iraq, the US Dollar is very weak at the moment. Add the "teuro" to this all and there goes your vacation in Deutschland
I am in a big farming area and lots of over the road trucking companies. I can't believe the truckers and the farmers are not screaming bloody murder over diesel fuel prices. I don't remember the whole deal but I think the truckers got fuel prices in Wisconsin lowered back some years ago by some kind of strike or would nor run in Wisconsin, I don't remember anymore but when they got together they made things happen. It was funny how this fall how gas went down and diesel went up when the farmers were harvesting. I have also noticed the diesel would go up and gas stay the same then gas would go way up and diesel would come back down. Lately diesel went way up, it was the same price as premium gas at 2.37, now diesel stayed the same but gas took a major jump the last few days. I didn't go anywhere today so I don't know if it jumped again but the other day premium was at 2.47. Back in early Feb we went on a trip to Mertyle Beach SC for a week and gas was 20 cents a gallon cheaper than in Wisconsin, I hear Wisconsin has the highest tax on gas of all states. I wanted to race less this year and drive the car more on the street this summer but if premium gets much higher I will go broke putting gas in it. Also my old 83 suburban diesel has a 40 gallon tank so I need a bank loan to fill it from empty but it gets about 22 mpg on the highway so it is still cheaper than the last gas truck I had. But pulling my car trailer with our class C motor home at about 5 or 6 mpg won't be fun. Its a good thing the track is only about a hour away from me. The wife just said she paid $2.36 for regular gas today, thats what priemium was about a week ago. Tom
Want to get the price of fuel lower? Wait until the "Royal Saudi family" best friend and business partner is out of the White House. Conquer and annex the Arab oil producing countries and commandeer their oil reserves. Stop China from having extreme economic growth. Short of these things; forget about the idea of stable and lower prices.
