That is what I did and the engine weighed about the same as the V6 that came out of it. I did not have to change the front springs. Plenty of power and good gas mileage.
Do some research. The car you are looking for may already be out there. There are so many options. You have to figure out exactly which path you want and begin your search. Being a heavy car go with an engine that will have the torque to move it or it will just be annoying in so many ways is my only advice. 1. With today's advances in electronic ignition and fuel management you might want to consider leaving the original V-8 but upgrade to electronic ignition and fuel management. 2. Add high amp alternator for electronics and electric cooling fans. 3. Aftermarket high efficiency A/C compressor and TXV. 4. Disc brake conversion and like previously stated duel master cylinder setup. 5. Overdrive transmission. None of that is hard or requires major reconstruction. Going to a V-6 or especially an LS is going to add significantly to cost to gain a few more MPG. Is it worth the cost in the miles you will be driving? Mikey
There is something to be said for building your own. for one thing it is educational and another is feeling good about your accomplishment. Besides it really helps to be able to answer questions about your car. IMHO Bob H.
I gotta agree with you Bob. I couldn't get half of what I have put into the Buchev back, and I'll put in more. It isn't about making money - it's my hobby and I love it.
