I nearly lost my right leg above the knee 10 yrs ago to a MRSA infection. The pain was like no other I've ever experienced. Seemingly came out of no where and sidelined me for a month. I have a very pronounced divot in my leg where the worst of it was.. glad to hear you're past the worst of it. I was self employed at the time as well and was thinking the same- gotta get back at it! It cost me a month with no income. Luckily I bought health insurance the year before. The damn deductible was 3k though.

Did they drain you and pack the wound with the shoe string stuff?

Never ignore swelling and discoloration! I almost became a pirate!

May have found the problem :D

Seriously though, a good friend and mentor of mine liked to point out things I couldn't out-stubborn. Damn if he wasn't right. Glad you got it looked after, and you're on the mend...

I learned a similar lesson. I thought “it’s just a bump. I probably hit it against something” and ignored it. That was a little over two years worth of chemo ago, and the fight ain’t over yet. Three weeks ago, I got Covid. I couldn’t get to the doctor fast enough. I listen to everything my body tells me now. Mostly because at my age (63), my body only communicates in ALL CAPS BOLD FACE UNDERLINED ITALICS.

Glad your OK. I thought you have been a bit quieter than normal here lately, but I knew you had a pretty busy schedule lined up.

I will try to take your advise into consideration. Starting with, no more all-nighters.

Wow, glad you caught it in time. Hurry up and heal!

I had Shingles around 1992, painful as heck, thought I was having a heart attack my chest felt so tight. Heavy rash around left half of my upper body. Also left eye twitched for 2 years after, lost some vision clarity in that eye. It was my best eye.....had 20/20 before the Shingles. Docs said must have caught it from a chicken pox carrier.

What did the experts think caused your condition?

Having spent my last 20 working years self employed I can relate to not taking time off, it is next to impossible, at least it seems that way. Glad you are on the mend Jim!

Take care of yourself Jim and thanks for sharing your story. Reading it might benefit some of us other hard-headed guys that are likely to delay a doctor visit even when we know deep down that we need to go.

Oh boy, what a story. Glad that it is one with a happy end!!!
One take away for all of us is probably, that we testosteron monsters should listen more often to our female advisors, in particular when it is about health.
On a side note: I feel terribly bad now about the follow up email I did send you Tuesday.
Take your time for your recovery, the number of second chances in life are limited.....

    Thanks guys..

The worst thing now is that I am on the hospital schedule sleep schedule now... went to sleep at 7:30 last night, woke at 10pm, and then again at 2:30... those were the times they woke me up for the antibiotics for the last 4 days..

So now it's 3am and I am wide awake... thank God for netflix..

Glad you're on the mend. A guy at my wife's work has the same thing a month ago. Still hobbling around. I'm the same way with hospitals/doctors. Take care.

Wow. Incredible story and very glad you're on the mend. i can relate to not wanting to go to the hospital, at 63 I guess i need to rethink that option. Or maybe it's not an option should anything like that come up. What a story!! Take care Jim!
