I have been told that non-descriptive Tow Trucks steal cars. That's amazing that these non-descriptive Tow trucks don't get pulled over by the Police. I live in a townhouse community and tow trucks come in here late at night to pull out parking violators. So, no one wonders if the tow truck is legit or not. Very scary situation.
I was going to mention that. Not all thieves are going to drive your car away. They can hook up in under 5 minutes.
If there is a way to steal a car, thieves will find a way that's for sure. Where I live, i'am a short distance from major shipping in Baltimore. It's so easy to put a car in a container and ship it World Wide. Vet
I'm 3 miles outside of Detroit. I work about a 1/4 mile outside of Detroit. Nothing that goes in, comes back out. GPS tracker or not. If it does, its just a shell of what it used to be. My work is gated and barbed wired. That has not stopped thieves from stealing a co-workers truck.
The thief CANNOT turn off the airtag. Only the owner can. The reports to a user being notified "an AirTag is traveling with you" can be muted, but that only stops it from bugging you not from reporting location to the owner. The Progressive Distributer has an ignition cut off for those that are really worried. Also hiding the tag as stated above can help a lot.
I'm saying that if the crook turns the feature off on his phone, he will not be the one reporting the air tag location. Also, if he sequesters it away from other iPhones, it is, effectively GONE! Finally, knowing it has an air tag is half the battle. You can scan for it. There are even apps that force it to squawk to find it. I would not rely on an air tag for a high value item.

A shutoff on the power feed to the electric fuel pump would work on a modern EFI car. Obviously it wouldn't stop a tow truck equipped thief, but it would stop the garden variety dirtbags.
I can vouch for the LAS 54. Been using it for a year now. First thing I'll say is they have great customer service and have gone above and beyond when I've needed to contact them. I think it costs me $130 a year or something. When I stored the car last October, I dropped the tracking updates to 60 second updates (from 10 seconds) and they reduced the cost for the next 6 months. I just increased it to 10 second updates again this week and they set me up at no cost increase! So I'm paying the 60 second update price. One email and one phone call is all it took... same day service. I started my account out at 10 second updates last year. Yes, I'm paranoid and wanted to know instantly where the car is. I got it before Power Tour last year so I was nervous as hell having to park in all kinds of weird places. I have it configured to both text me and email me at the same time whenever it either Enters or Exits my Geofences. THAT can get annoying though, especially because I daily drive the car and put a fence on several usual stops. LOL! But I can deal with it. I will say that the alerts are not instant. But I've never failed to get a Geofence alert. Ever. 90% of the time they hit within seconds (or under a minute) of exiting or entering a fence. Once in a while they've taken several minutes... but I attribute that to cellular and\or GPS. I even called LAS about it and the engineer located my area and made internal changes that helped. I had one area where I normally parked the car and had a Geofence but it showed several hundred feet away and the car still moving. He fixed it. After a few days of having to keep charging it on the Power Tour, I hard wired it with their kit that I brought along on the trip and it makes ALL the difference. At home just driving the car a couple three times a week to work or whatever, you don't need to charge it often. But driving a 2500 mile trip causes it to need daily charging because it's constantly being tracked and updating the location. It's been hard wired now ever since with no issues at all. In fact it's been sitting in storage for 6 months hooked up and it's still at 100%. The magnet is very strong too. I have it hanging upside down and it's never moved. We have a lot of pot holes around here! The app and web site trackers work exactly the same. They show you the same things and have all the configurability you need. I've never had an issue with either and they've never gone down. You can make the Geofences as large as you want and move them around the area of the car. One thing to keep in mind is if you set a Geofence using the app, and then set another one using the web site on the same spot, sometimes it put both Geofences around the car. No big deal... just more alerts. I set the alarm tone on my phone to a super loud and annoying sound that I can't mistake for the car leaving or entering my Geofences. It alarms even though my phone is set to only vibrate. If I sound like a salesman, it's because I'm impressed and have had a great experience with it for a year now. For that little of a cost per year, it's a no-brainer. I have a 'security' device on the car as well, but now I want something that makes noise if the car is disturbed. Maybe the Viper 3105 or something similar. That's how I found your post... doing a forum search on "alarm" to see what people are using that's not over the top. Hope this helps!
This sounds impressive. Some of the terminology is a little confusing to me. I'll have to checkout the website and talk with an engineer to fully understand how this all works. My cell phone is a Android, so I assume this tracking system works on my system? 60 second updates will work for me and the price? Seems reasonable (your original price that is $130.00).
