Rolling 5 deep with Turbotimmer and company meeting in Columbus and heading to BG. Portable radios and lots of laughs. Anyone wishes to join they are more than welcome.

Glad to see this thread is actually being productive and not a giant pissing match. As i have spoken to John Jr. and others the community is small, maybe a few hundred that are diehards that go to these events, year in and year out. Many of us like myself, and Junior and Ethan Mathis and others grew up here attending as children with our parents. A lot of family pictures and memories for me heading to BG with my mother and stepfather as i am sure people who know me have seen me post on Facebook and Instagram. I am hoping to continue that tradition with my daughter as well.

With that being said, forget the politics and the bs and the drama of the past. Forget the fact of something that upset you in 1995, because its 2017. Are you really that pent up that you want to miss out on fun and friendships and great cars over something so silly? Keep the negativity at the door and please be an adult about it. Bottom line, either way support and attend an event. Sponsor the event or a race/show class, bring a car, enter the show, race, enter all of the above etc.

I hope that the dates get switched. For those that dont realize, Beech Bend and Cecil are two of the most popular tracks in America. Cecil has huge doorslammer events, thus a tight schedule. Beech Bend has 20 plus 3 day events in 2017. Thats two full months of events. And its a cash machine at that track. I would bet the house that Norwalk and other major tracks dont even take the revenue that Beech Bend does because he has so many big events. A few years ago a t shirt vendor said LS Nats had close to 30-40k people and filled the place. Its a track advantage as well.

The advantage being if you dont want the dates they give you, then see you later. Meaning they set the dates, you either take them, or face fact you may lose the chance to have an event there for good. Period. Same case in point i bet for Cecil. This has been a point that has been missed by many people. I know about events and coordinating multiple factors as still of all the events, myself and Jim Chaudrue got all the Buick TR engineers and TTA personnel together for the first and only time ever in Columbus in 2011. Its not bragging at all, just a point that i know a thing or two about events and logistics and how to make them go and its always interesting reading posts on this website and Facebook and others about rumors and misleading information that i roll my eyes and laugh at and wonder if people believe the words coming out of their own mouth!

I hope more than anything the dates wont interfere with one another. I am hoping in 2018 even if they are 2 weeks apart i will attend both of them. Despite the weather which is always the factor we cant control, the economy, the fuel costs, its a chance to rewind time . For those like myself who wish they were born in the 1960s to those who did and led the ground work for enthusiasts like myself.

My friend Nick Rovansek from Mentor Ohio like myself said it best a few days ago on a Turbo Buick forum. The cutting down and bad mouthing and negativity gets you nowhere. I have more people my age and younger kids coming up and knowing about my Limited and finding interest in them. Those are the future. Face it, GM especially Buick wont be making performance minded cars like they did in 1970 and 1987. If you want the torch to continue then do your part. Whining and complaining does nothing but turn someone off and say oh well i like the cars but the people and the owners seem so negative and down why would i want to be around them. Why do you think that joke about Corvette owners being egomaniacs and self centered is all over car event circles? Because it happens more often than not. The one time some person who doesnt know about a Buick comes up to you and compliments your car or asks questions, show them the good side. They may just be next to you in the pits or at a show in Cecil or BG down the road. Nobody is born a know it all!

Very well said anthony. I wish we could attend bowling Green also as my last to visits were finals in the quick 16 with 2 different cars. Although the last one against Hecker was a race we both have been waiting for I feel I need the win. Maybe next year the dates won't conflict but either way the Buick people must and should attend one or the other. We are a dying breed for large events. Most times when I attend the track I am the only buick so know wonder why tracks don't care for us or will work with us. I helped with the piedmont turbo Buick event and I think that is a nice event and everyone had a good time. Hopefully this event will continue also as its another place to race and hangout.

I'm only an hour away from Cecil but I'll be making the 11 hour drive to BG. The 4 day event helps mitigate the long drive. Nothing wrong with Cecil and I'd be there if not for the conflicting dates. I've been to EVERY GS Nationals and I plan to be at every one that is yet to be held(God willing). Until last year I was at every Cecil event but that would have been only 19 years:). If the two events are ever held on separate dates I'll be at both again. I will say that if the weather looks bad for Saturday at BG I may make the overnight run back to Cecil. I screwed around too long last year on Friday.

The only people that are really losing out are the people who don't go to one of these great events.

I can't be at two places at once, I'm going to Cecil.
If they ever can separate the events, I would like the option to be able to do both.
