Why? everyone on here who is interested can see it on ebay, plus a whole lot more people. Plus if a board member is interested, they just have to contact him. Here you have to name a price, on ebay you don't, and you don't have to hassle with people putting themselves in line (just to take themselves back out again a couple days later), etc. Some people don't want to put a price on a car, they want to see what kind of offers they will get. I am sure he also would love it if someone bought it and wanted him to restore it, which would also make the pricea moving target.
What are you guys speculating about here? I have just returned late last night from racing my 70 Stage 1 GSX from Pure Stock Drags in Michigan, defending and promoting the reputation of our Buick GS cars and see this trash talk? This is a super solid 70 GSX Stage 1 4 speed car, yes the Holy Grail. Most A bodies 40 years of age need rear quarters! The firewall body tag is original and untouched, balance of floors are good minor sectioning required.
Rich, There are two cars being discussed in this thread by mistake. The 10-10 car that RK Motors is selling for $159K on eBay is the car with the cowl tag in question, not yours.
I would love to put my Stage 2 iron Head engine in this car ! Need to move the Burgundy car .........
SHEESH!!!! Some people try to find something wrong with EVERYTHING.... I have known this white car for YEARS... It is completely numbers matching and a GREAT car... One of the few cars that has this low of miles and quite possibly the finest White 70 X. Check with Duane about his opinion of this car. No, RK does not own the car. How about a new attitude, if you ain't got better, ...... Oh well
Having better has nothing to do with it. Did you even bother to look at how much they want for it? If your going to ask $159,900 for a car you'd better be ready for some nitpicking if every nut and bolt aint in perfect shape.
Yes, and if he didn't ask that for it, everyone would knock him for not asking enough and hurting the value. They just sold a non numbers auto yellow car in excess of 120K.
Is this the car he purchased from Jeff S.? He seems to be selling quite a few of his cars, I hope all is well.
Mark, I'm not sure if your post was directed at my comments, but I didn't knock the car, the price, the restoration, or the owner. All I said was based on my opinion, the cowl tag looks like a reproduction. If you, Duane, or Jeff tell me that it is the original cowl tag, I will be happy to delete all my posts in this thread. :TU:
Not directed at anyone in particular, I just know the car and the owner and it concerns me that prospective buyers might perceive everyone's opinion as fact and that in turn might cause a smaller buyer pool or even worse, prevent a buyer from acting.
Exactly! I had all the "experts" picking at my stage 1 car a few years ago when I advertised here. More broke-ass tire-kickers here than real buyers.
I don't know..at that price I would want to know whats wrong with it. There are things pointed out here I might miss if I went and looked at it.
If at that price you want to know what is wrong with it ... Go Look at it... My point is that if these opinions are wrong it is not fact but opinion garnered from pictures.
If this is the white car I am thinking about it is one of my favorites. I don't know why but it drove me crazy and I liked it better everytime I saw it. It might not be perfect, and I never checked it out as far as numbers, cowl tag etc, but this is one of the few 4-speed cars I would ever consider buying. If I had the money there would be no need to have a discussion about this car. Duane
