    :):):):)

    I'm also surprised to just how thin the base metal is. .095 to .100 inch. Took a while to measure because my Harbor Freight "Pittsburgh" digital slide caliper kept popping the button cell off because the plastic hold down clip decided it's time to stop holding the button cell down..:rolleyes:

    I just pulled our 3-Ton EverCraft line of jack stands out of the box. Looks completely different than the Harbor Freight stand. Ours has welded "pads" on the bottom of each 3 legs. The pads are wide enough where they can't sink "12 inches" into to the asphalt. BTW, Who lays 12 inches of blacktop? Even the welds look completely different. Almost like a Mig weld of the concerning area.
    All of our jack stands "Complies with ASME PASE-2014" Safety Standards. Including our Professional Heavy Duty line. And includes there official decal on either the box and or stand. As does our COMPLETE line of any lifting Equipment, floor jacks, bottle jacks, etc.

    With that, I called our manufacture. There are no recalls of any kind on any and or all of our stands. And they are made to only our manufacture's specifications. In a nut shell, ours are in any or no means, the same as Harbor Freights... Completely different manufacture.

    Right now all our stands are on sale. Two each in the box. I'll list a few per box.

    EverCraft D.I.Y line;
    Part # 776-2001. 3 Ton Stands: $29.99
    Part # 776-2000. 6 Ton Stands: $49.99
    6 month warranty on all of that line.

    Professional Heavy Duty line;
    Part # 791-5050. 4 Ton Stands: $69.99... $322.36 is list!
    Part # 791-5160. 7 Ton Stands: #140.00... $419.86s list!
    2 year warranty.

    Hope that helps!

    Thanks for that clarification GUY! Bak in Chicago we used NAPA, CarQuest and bunches of little mom and pop joints with the creaky wood floors and Dorman Drawers for a counter. Racks and racks of books. All the old places are gone, replaces by the "Little Box" places. When Carquest took over the small places, I had a pal that had to go store to store and REPACKAGE all the Deco and Autolite brand stuff in their boxes with their numbers. Had a few kids with him that saw "Brake pads are brake pads" and reboxed them accordingly.

    A few years ago Bob Ball bought the local 3 NAPA stores and shitcanned everyone. Id go in looking for a compression fitting, and the 40 year old game boy slug wouldnt put down the crack phone and get off his ass to find one. "We dont have those"... AYSM???? These places make hydraulic hoses for the farmers around here too BTW. They have improved considerably. My issue wasnt with NAPA, it was the hired hands (tired hands??). Bumper to Bumper is pretty good over here, and the 3 owners are all Olds 442 guys. Kinda like a distant cousin to Buick guys??

    At any rate, thanks again for that ASME spec. Ive copy and pasted it here in case any of the literates or illuminatae want to copy and paste stuff for reference LOL... The illiterates? Well, we'll cross that bridge later!

    Thanks for the input! Bill in Two Rivers... just a little east of you LOL.. ws

    Bill... Ha! I remember those days. First real job at age 14. Northern Auto, old creaky floors like you said. Just rows of catalogs to look up parts, before the computer age. But for the most part just went in the back and grabbed the parts for customers without looking them up. Went through the whole changeover from catalogs to computers...remember what a pain it was! Glad I wasn't there during the buyout to CARQUEST!
    Your V8 friend just a little West of you in Mosinee.
    Thanks to our paper mill, our motto here is "Kiss her where it stinks, in Mosinee". LOL

    There is certain items I would never skimp on, safety equipment and tools from Harbor Freight seems like a bad idea to begin with :)

    Sometimes (in the past) you just grab what ya need. Nowadays, EVERY part is scrutinized. Where ya from MRP?

    My daily "go to" jack. About a 1950 Walker I think. Had it for 25 years and never had to ad oil. Just bought these stand at a garage sale for 10.00. From the chinaman but probably 15-20 years old as well. Lots of Camaro race cars were up on these! Always looking at older tried and true stuff at rummage sales etc...

    those are central machinery stands .i had some in the race trailer but im turning them in .i ended up buying unijacks by powerbuilt .mostly because of engine diaper but they look stout with a bottom plate and a safety latch.i think HF is issueing a 40+ dollr credit and im going to take advantage of it .i looked at some Jegs Jackstands and they look very close to the same as the red HF ones

    For a split second I thought it was a giff gag.!
    That is a nice setup..;) I can see it making it so much easier to support a car. How many times have we had issue's to find a spot for the jack and then a place on the frame to lay on the stands.
    Then the stands base hitting the jacks wheels etc.. It's even worse when you have some rusting spots that you don't trust.
    Nice find BobbyB and good info,:) my stands are Central Machinery..

    FWIW if a 2 ton stand will work Rual king has them for 39 each .the ratings go by each stand not a combo as many jack stands do.these are sold individually .ALso HF will take back the Central machinery model #38846 it is part of the recall post by the president of the co

    So 2 ton jack is good for 4,000 lbs, With what Guy posted, the ASME certs give all lifting, jacking, and rigging (chain hoist etc) a 50% safety margin. That 2 ton jackstand (if ASME cert'd) should be good for 3 tons or 6,000 lbs. Ive never seen a PAIR of jackstands rated, only individually. Also in ASME testing, these performance standards are probably cycled 10,00 times in a saltwater environment.

    Of course theres no REG's on advertising. Ya hafta read the fine print on everything these days!...ws

    "A pair of these stands can safely hold 2 Tons of ChinaForce" which is exactly WHAT ?? I cant wait for engine stand and hoists to begin failing. Ive used several "foldable engine hoists"... a great idea, but a scary proposition with 1 ton hanging in the air. Must be SCGE (society of chinaman gulag estimators) best guess.

    Betcha its fun trying to sue a chinaman for losing a leg; or worse! ws

    Gulag products sold world wide. Stockroom carries 100,000 name brand stickers for buyers. Still looking at the OP, that weld failure looks like a robot weld. One operation stamps the entire frame, next op folds it and the 3rd welds it. Gulag makee 10,000 per hour. Still looks like hot rolled steel underneath. Powder coating hides a multitude of sins! ws
