    Well Howdy Friends,
I've been away for about a week. I thought I'd better check in and say "I'm alive still", or someone might think the "Birds" really did get me. I have good news and bad news. First the good news.... The Penguins have flown the coup for a short while. They flew over to the west coast Florida to meet up with a whole flock of penguins from the Cincinnati area. They will be gone for about a week. The bad news.... They will be back. John Codman, look out! They are all in the Naples area. It might be hard to spot them though. I hear you all have a ton of penguins over on that side of Florida.
Last Sunday was cold and drizzly here. I was panicking! Dear Lord, please don't tell me I'm stuck with these complaining birds all day? Luckily my son called me up and asked me if I wanted to take a ride with him. Heck ya!!! I didn't car where we went just as long as it was away from them! Alex was selling some big mud tires to some guy north of Lake Okeechobee. Good deal, that's an all day ride. We didn't get back until after 7 PM. Then we went over a buddies house and got drunk. When I got home the birds were snoring in their nest. Monday I was sooo happy to go to work. The week actually went by pretty fast. Wednesday I bought a new vacuum cleaner. I assembled it and put it in the entry way hoping they would take a hint. You're not going to believe this. The birds told me they were leaving in the morning. Really??? How convenient! Sure enough Thursday morning they left in a rush. I go in the house and see the lovely mess they left. You guys will NOT believe it!!!! The first picture is Wednesday morning. The next 2 pictures are the floor pictures. You can easily see the crumbs left by the female penguin. It didn't look that bad on my phone. Holy Sh t she sure did make a mess!!!! The last picture is butter on the refrigerator door. WHAT!!! I should run away.
This weekend we are going mudding at a place called "Devil's Garden." It will be a GREAT time. Trucks, 4 wheelers, swamp buggies, and redneck girls in short shorts. It doesn't get any better!!! Have a GREAT weekend!!!

Patrick, Thank you for the Blues song. It is plying right now.

John, how could you leave WPB when the man is in town. I figured you would have him over for a few beers a ride in the GS, and to meet the penquins. Oh thats right he doesn't drink and the wildlife has left for the west coast of FL. Well, your better off checking out the wildlife at the event then.

Dear Fellow Penguin haters.......... I have enjoyed 6 glorious days without the birds, but unfortunately I think my reprieve is about over. I have evidence. I helped the "little penguin" bring in groceries this afternoon. Whoa!!! Since when do we eat soooo much JUNK food? I DO NOT eat junk food nor do I drink soft drinks. She bought that too. The first give away was the BIG salty pretzels that only her dad likes. Now there will be a separate crumb pile on another spot on the floor. Sigh....
We had a GREAT weekend! I told you all we were going mudding at a place called Devil's Garden. We had a blast. To my fellow pervs, I do not have pictures of hot, sexy, muddy young ladies. Sorry. I didn't see the "wanted" post until I got back. Actually, most of the women were middle aged and chunky. Not a good picture. Boy do some people have money! I'm talking about new 4 door, long bed, big, 4 wheel drive dual-lies pulling 40 foot trailers with 2, yes I said TWO, big monster trucks up on top! That's a lot of money!!! My crowd, we are regular. That means we are lucky enough to have enough money to even go out there and play with our toys. Friday night was a big bonfire and DJ along with all the crazies seeing if their truck could make it through the mud pit. Most didn't! That muddy, we have stuff called "muck." It will suck the boot right off your foot. Saturday was a slalom course race track for crazy fast trucks going against a time clock. A buddy of ours raced a customer's truck. He got up to the line, did the nitrous purge and took off. The truck hooked and took off bad a$$ fast. He took the first jump good. Kicking dirt up hauling butt to the 2nd jump. Took the 2nd jump and NOT good. The right front tire got stuck in a rut. First he rolled over and then did an end over end! His wife and kids were hanging out with us. Talk about weird quiet for a few minutes. Then Ryan crawled out of the truck and we saw him standing up. YEAH!!!! He didn't get hurt, but he sure was shaken up! After that they had tire buggie side by side races. I "think" 200 feet. I might be wrong? That was pretty cool. Then they had truck pulls on cement. It gets boring after awhile. The Dodge diesel trucks always seem to do really well. After that a camp fire and more cold brews. My son actually talked little penguin into going back out and hanging out with the crazies. They didn't get back till 1:30 AM. Sunday morning is "lick your wounds" and pack up. I always want a new body! Yes, we got slammed around the back of the K5 Blazer quite a few times Saturday. Seat belts? What are those???
Sunday afternoon was a Super Bowl party at neighbor Dan's house. Whew!!! Sure am glad it is only about 10 houses away! Dan's a hunter and he made the most delicious deer back strap, wrapped in bacon, and then had jalopina peppers stuffed in the center. Wow!!! We also BBQed ribs and some spicy hot chicken wings. I don't watch sports unless an engine is involved, but I thought it was a good game. I drove home with one eye closed. Come on..... 10 houses. Got out of the "manvan" and proceeded to go "through" the screen porch. Yes, I missed the door! Ouch!!! Not really. I didn't feel a thing.:TU: Then I went in the house to pee. Bad idea. Apparently I sat down on the toilet. I probably couldn't stand very well. When I stood up to go back outside..... I fell in the bathtub and took the shower curtain with me. Ouch! Nope, I still didn't feel a thing. Monday I went to work. Boy was it a Monday, even for a "professional!" I try to find a couple of pictures.....

First, my awesomely cute Granddaughter, 2nd my son and wife with the kids inside a truck's rims, 3rd my crazy Grandson, 4th Ryan's truck after the wreck, 5th a Buick??? It's on top of a Chevy Blazer drive line, 6th the mud pit. Now I'm going to my son's to drink beer. Oh wait, I already was. My son is trading his mud Jeep this weekend for a street legal sand rail VW. I want the sand rail!!!!!! Just what I need. Guess I'd better be nice to the little penguin.
PS.... I bought a new Electrolux vacuum cleaner. She hasn't used it yet. Maybe she's waiting for the mess, I mean her parents, to leave! Peace!

PSS.... Patrick, I want to meet up with you guys!!!! I went to Columbus. Talk about SWEATY HOT!!! Be glad you didn't go!!!!

The picture... Our buddy is one heck of a fabricator, and a welder. I think, I can be totally wrong, but I can find out, that is a Chevy frame with a fiberglass Nissan body??? I only heard it run in his shop and it is, was, a serious Chevy engine and drive line.

Nissan. Couldn't tell. After a second look, I see it. Glad he wasn't injured.

Jerry, Do you go to the Nationals? I'd love to meet you guys. I've been going since the late 80's. The camp ground was FULL! The town was crazy awesome. Racing on the streets! The good 'ole days!!! The town got BIG. Bummer??? I towed my pop up camper behind my GS350 for 10 years. Now I have 3:90 gears and tow it on a trailer. The gears are fun! Lots of traffic down here so quick starts are fun!

Hey Patrick.... You didn't write me yet??? And the million dollar question is.......................... are they coming? To be honest, I don't know. To be realistic, I'm sure they are. When? I'll make a guess..... Today is 1/04/18. My wife, penguin jr., has her birthday 1 /09/18. I'll bet they get here before that date. Oh my, I need Valium already! Hopefully the severe cold you guys are having up north will impede their progress. Maybe it is tooooooo frigid to load their car full of "spring like" clothing? Maybe their car's door locks are frozen and they'll have to wait for a thaw? (Does that happen anymore?) Maybe??? I can't think of anymore reasons right this minute. Luckily, my grand children have gotten older, and I am sure the penguins can be worn out. Wait till they hear the loud screams from my 2 year old grandson. He calls them "burnouts!!!", and does them constantly. Wait till my 3 year old grand daughter tells them "They are not doing it right." Times have changed! I have 96 more "work days" before I retire when I go back to work next Monday. Ajax couldn't wipe a smile off of my face!!! Like the McDonald's slogan.... "I'm loving it!!!"
PS... It will be interesting to see what the penguins think of the newly paved road in front of our house. The town repaved it even though it didn't need repaving. "Tax dollars at work." We, my friends and I, put MANY black lines down on that street. They covered them all up. So New Year's Eve, and Jan. 1st, we "fixed" the road. I'll try to get a picture, soon. "Black lines do matter!"

Funny you should ask! We have moved to a smaller house on some land (with one fewer bedroom!) and bought a guest house (like a trailer, 400 sq.,feet, one bedroom) for our penguin. Just the difference of a little distance is wonderful! Everyone’s happier. That’s part of the reason I hadn’t posted about short winged waterfowl; I’m not constantly mumbling while emptying the sink. Her habitat may be messy, but I don’t see it. Congrats on your impending retirement and new job striping roads. Hope your holidays and new year go well!

Patrick, What a GREAT idea!!! Unfortunately my wife doesn't retire for at least 3 more years and we want to move at least 100 to 150 miles up north. So we are stuck here for now.
Other news... Just got up an hour and a half ago and it is COLD here, for South Florida standards. It was 40 on my back porch and windy. By the time I cleaned up yesterday's mess my hands were frozen. We, my son's and I, are working on 3 different projects. I'm working on my retirement truck. A 1993 Chevy 2500 extended cab long bed. Rebuilt the engine, transmission, and changed out ALL rubber brake lines, oil lines, power steering lines, master cylinder, wheel cylinders, and anything else that needed to be made new. I just got it running yesterday. My youngest son, and my buddy, are working on a 83, 85, 87 turbo Regal. There's a thread post from last night on it. And my oldest is putting an exhaust system on a girl friend's car. Not his girl friend. Just a girl friend we've all known since childhood. She's lezzbo. Her girlfriend was over yesterday with her bratty 4 and 1/2 year old boy. My 3 year grand daughter made him cry. Poor boy! He said he wrecked on his bike and was crying and she called him a baby. LMAO!!! Later on they were playing tag. She caught him and pushed him down. More crying. That little grand daughter is a tough cookie!!!!!

Dear Fred, You should have stopped over today. We had Code Enforcement stop by for a visit. Fortunately, my son, Alex works for the city and the code enforcement guy was quite nice. I was quite nice. When he showed up there was the 83, 85, 87 Buick turbo Regal project under way. (We did good! Everything is working!) A Chevy truck Alex was putting an exhaust system on, my truck, not tagged and about 7 other cars all over the lawn. They were friends visiting. (Partying) It was very funny! 2 hours later the mess was cleaned up and the yard was back in order. You know I don't invite friends over. They come over when ever they want!!! Make sure you use the porch door to knock on, or yell in if we are not out front. We are playing Fred!!!

This penguin update is brought to you by beer, lots of it! Yes, the penguins are here. They arrived at a most crazy time down here. My youngest son, his bride to be, and their crazy, out of control 1 year old German Sheppard were still here from Christmas break. His dog tore up my pepper plant garden that I had been growing from seeds for the last 2 months. He basically aerated my entire backyard running back and forth with his giant paws. So much so that there is hardly a living piece of grass. Now it is all dirt for the penguins to track into the house. So my son and his mess go home and the penguins took over his roost. Last Monday I came home from work. The first chore on my list was to vacuum the ENTIRE house. Between the dogs fur and the penguins crumbs it was disgusting! The female penguin followed me around talking nonstop as was taking rug mats out of the house. "What are you doing?" "I'm going to vacuum." "Why?" "Because the floors are covered with food!" "I don't see any." I thought..... Put your glasses on! Crumbs are falling off the rug mats as I'm taking them out of the house! Apparently the female penguin told the male penguin that I was upset with the mess in the house. They got all agitated and left the house. I filled the vacuum with fur and crumbs! I'm thinking penguins don't like a dirty sitting area. This year I notice the female penguin eats her morning bagel on the couch instead of the recliner. She probably thinks the recliner is still full of crumbs from last year. I should tell her my son and I actually flipped it upside down and beat the crumbs out of it. Here is what I wake up to each morning..... I get up and start making my lunch for work. The female unfortunately is an early riser. She comes into the kitchen to make another pot of weak ass coffee. It is basically brown, hot water. (It doesn't even make me poop, and I want to poop in the morning before I go to work.) Then she gets a bagel and puts it in the toaster. She refuses to pull the toaster out from under the kitchen cabinets like I have asked her to do year after year. She's going to burn the house down! Then she takes a full size paper towel and folds it up to 1/4 its original size to put her bagel on. Why? I don't know. Maybe so she is assured crumbs will drop out? Then she goes to her new seat and "pecks" at her bagel. Just seeing her each morning makes me want to go to work. I even find myself going in early to work. That's weird?
This past week I was fixing all the rust holes around the windshield on my son's car. The male penguin comes out to the garage and stands in my way, constantly. No matter what tool I go to get he seems to be standing in the way. It's unreal! Yesterday my son, his bride to be, and the crazy Sheppard came home again. We are continuing to work on his 83, 85, 87 turbo Regal. A long story in itself, but I will NOT digress. The car is coming along very nicely. I believe we will be installing the front clip and hood today.
Today we will be having a small Buick get together at my house in the front. (The inside of the house will be filled with a whole flock of penguins!) A new Buick forum guy and his wife will be coming up here from the Ft. Lauderdale area. Gary, I don't remember his forum name, has his mom's original 68 GS400 4 speed. He said it has extremely low mileage but a lot of surface rust that he needs to take care of. I also invited Milton, I don't remember his forum name either, to come on over. He said he is going to come over and "talk the talk." Last night he texted me and said he ordered a Jim Weiss 470 Buick engine to put in his 70 GS455. Go Milton!!!! I also invited GSFred to come over. I know Fred's forum name. :)> We should have a pretty good get together out front between my sons, neighbors, friends, and new friends to be.
For you "up north" people.... It is VERY breezy, but highs should be in the upper 70's. Right now it is 70 on my back porch and I am in my favorite beat up shorts and T-shirt. I hope you all have a GREAT weekend. I'll be doing better as soon as it is beer thirty ( 3hours and 16 minutes!)
