Re: Re: Like the show "Eight is Enough"? Hi Alan, The one in Rob's picture doesn't look salvagable to me either. I figured you just wanted it for parts and if you can bring some of those others back to life than that sure sounds good to me!:TU: The statement at the end of my reply was sort of a joking/jealous/and unoriginal but I just had to make it. How long have you been collecting those grilles? Good luck restoring them. You've got enough work there for Tumas to quit the airline industry if you hire him to repair all of 'em!
Ok, I made a list of parts that I should get off this car. If there are anymore parts I should get, let me know. The following parts are: -"400" Markers -Grille -Tail lenses/whole light assembly -Front parking light assembly, if solid -Steering wheel, if uncracked -Speedometer cluster? -4 speed floor hump -Right inner fender, if solid. I'm pretty sure I saw the front of the inner-fender rusted. -Heater control -side marker lights -Reverse lamp assembly. I'm pretty sure I saw it cracked, but it was still complete. Would superglue fix this problem? -kick panels and cables -Rear-end, if positraction? A few of you want the same things off this car so, I'll go by who notified me first. I would also like the parts that I get off this car to go to the person that needs it the most, more than just having an extra sitting around. So, if anyone is willing to help someone else finish their car who requested the same part to the person that needs it the most, then I would feel more satisfied by helping you guys out. I also want to be fair with the pricing, so if you guys can let me know what this stuff goes for, I'd appreciate it. Thanks.
Rob I don't know what the side markers are worth 25 or 30 dollars plus shipping?? My inner fender was so rotted I had to get rid of it. If its in fair condition i'd take it. Its a lot of work to take it off and I wouldn't know what to ask for it. Your time is worth something. If the rear end is posi that would be great. I have an old 10 bolt posi out of a 68 Skylark thats in rough shape. If you can find out what gear is in it and let me know. Also are there any GS emblems I could use them as well. Maybe you could give me a price on everything. What you found was a great find and thanks for sharing it with us. Ron
I wasn't able to get in touch with the yard today as I woke up at 12, I work from 8pm-6am. I'm going to get in contact with him on monday and he'll need to get the car out to take the parts off. The car is buried in snow right now so I can only see the upper half of it. I didn't notice any GS emblems on it, but there might be one on the right fender if any are located there. I didn't get to see that part as the snow was too deep. I'll give you guys an update on monday, thanks. BTW, is it possible that this car might have the boxed control arms and chassis stiffners? Also, I noticed the rear bumper looks to be straight with no dents, but It does need rechromed. Would there be any interest in this?
I would think that they are similar to them (70-72columns)except that the turn lever and shifter might be more closer to the 70 than the 71.They definitely would bolt in.I would still pick it up because 1.its a 4 speed and 2. probably has a bigblock steering shaft with a bolt not pressed on.(This may be speculation) Pat
Well, I bought the car today and I should be bringing it home tomorrow.ou: The guy at the yard said it sat there for 30 years, so it's gonna be a treat for him to pull it out. He said he'll probably have to lift it out as there are no paths wide enough for the car to fit through. When I get it on solid ground I'll take more pictures of it.
Re: Like the show "Eight is Enough"? hey Brian how's about selling me one of thoughs grills o No: uzzled:
Well, bad news. The guy got the car out, except he didn't care how he did it. My brother got pictures of it and he'll post them up. You might want to close your eyes first and slowly open them as there are no good parts on it left. The crossbars, 4-speed hump, convertible frame, and all the decent parts are all junk now. I told the lady in the office they just lost alot of money that could've been made off the car. She seemed quite upset as she realised it too. Oh well, another rare Buick that'll be going to the crusher.
Re: Re: Like the show "Eight is Enough"? Mark, Alan is the one with the grilles. I just reposted a picture he had shared with us previously. Good luck though!
