    Looking good Frank :TU:

    Jim -
This is the final protype version and the production dates need to be agreed upon before the delivery date can be known.

I'll guess it will not be too long from this point on...

I spoke with Frank M at the Cecil County race and he had the prototypes with him and I can tell you they were extremely nice, and I think the price is very fair for the amount of money he has put into the project, I don't think many people could tell it's a repop model.

Are these the tanks we saw at the NE Regional picnic? At that time there were some things that weren't correct, as I recall... like the wording on the top and the sides. Is that right? Are these the same ones? Do they pass for NOS? Is the wording correct?

    Just askin'.

Yes Jeff, they are the same.

The ones at Berwyn were the very early prototypes, with some details missing and the 'basic' plastic color.

The black tops and clear tops have different wording. The wording on the black top will be correct, and a clear plastic will be injected into the mold (with the black top wording) for us early '70 guys.

I believe Duane OK'd it for the concours class.

70-72 gs and skylark only...thats why we have no parts for our cars, they are specific to our makes.

    Coolant Tank

I got my GS Xtra newsletter the other day and was surprised to see that CARS had an add saying that they now have coolant tanks available for $149. I wonder who they got theirs from?

Thanks Marco for the quick reply. I'll order 2 tanks through Frank as soon as he lets us know the details.

Sorry it took me so long to get registered. Thanks for providing a great service to the Buick community.

I have a question for Frank.Could he make a die and cast GS grilles out of the same plastic as the coolant tanks???????? I do not know if the process would be any cheaper than the hard plastic but the grilles would be much more durable for sure. I own a 1970 Ford Torino Cobra and like Buicks the plastic grilles are almost non existant, but someone made a non permantent mold and made up some grilles that are made with a different softer/flexible plastic much like the plastic used on the coolant tanks.I bought one and am very pleased with it cost was $299.00 and it will be much more durable than the factory grille. In fact you can flex and twist the grille without causing damage and looks as good as a factocty grille. The manufacturer said that the mold will only last for a short run of grilles maybe a few hundred. As fast as Frank did the coolant tanks maybe he is the one to do grilles as well.

here's Frank's finalized black top coolant tank

Rusty I am looking into the subject of grilles. I have two manufactures that I have to talk to. I will need to get ahold of some grilles that are broken and can't be repaired. That way even if I can accumulate 4 or 5 of them but they would make a complete mock up I would be able to send to mfg. The 70 grille HAS to be strengthed alot. It is not at all flexible.

Next the coolant tanks. I will pick up the proto tomorrow of the clear top. The black top ones are MADE and I am awaiting the manufacturers word on when I will receive them. Don't hold me to this but it looks like the week between Christmas and New Years. BUT that week I will be in sunny Florida for business and pleasure. But this group will be the first ones to know when they are available. Right now myself, my son (in Florida), JR Wills and CARS will be handling them. I have a few others to talk to and send info to. I will have enough made to handle all your orders. If not I'll order more. That's the latest as of 12-3-03. Thankyou Frank
