Just installed the SPX intake with the proform 950. We have the drop base K&N filter from T/A performance, and it says it is supposed to fit. Hood won't close now with this set up. What air cleaner/Filter will work with the SPX?
Fast? I told you he was in a hurry. If we get the Christmas decorations up, my wife said we could go race next weekend for the final race of the year. Too much to get done. I'm ready for a break. This is going the be the last modification on this car and we start on the convertible. We have the 3" element. I guess we could go to the 2.25"?
Ditch the GS hood. Get you a flat one and cut a big stinking hole in it. Cover it up with one of those stage 2 scoops. Simple eh?
You guys are a lot of help. That big stinking hole and stage 2 scoop would be really cool. I was thinking a $30 air cleaner, and now I need to spend another big bucks for a hood!!! I have hoods sitting around, so now that you mention it, that's a good idea.
Have a B4B with 1" spacer, GS steel hood and had to go with a 2.25 K&N. can order from local speedshop or Summit. PS. I was thinking 4" cowl hood would be cool
Please get a lower air filter..The Stage 2 scoops look stupid, like a ricer fix..I sold mine and will never look back. I have a 3 1/2 inch cowl hood to remedy the fitting problems. Better to look like a Chevelle, than a ricer in my opinion..
Mark- Keep the hood and make sure you have the lowest drop base you can get 3-31/2 the get the smallest element you can find---I think mine is a 1 1/2 or so- I am getting a K&N top element though...
K&N "Flow Control" is the deepest I've seen, and has some features molded into the underside of the lid to help airflow. Getting the lid too close to the top of the carb can kill performance dead. Devon
This is true, I verified this on the flow bench. When things get tight do not go with the K&N flow top, it will reduce your internal height even more reducing flow.
Ditto -------------- carmantx I know its not the same car but it may help ya. I got a drop base air cleaner off a 2nd gen Z28 and was able to fit double stacked filters under my stock hood. It was aftermarket and I don't know who made it but but but since they have hood problems, might want to hit a 2nd gen Z28 forum and see what kind they are using. I only had to hack a bit off the top of my throtle cable bracket to make it fit.
Ditto again  Might as well stick a bowtie on the grille [says the man with big balls driving a wagon :smarty: ]
Chevelle my A$$....  I get those TA Stage 2 SE's on the top,we'll see who has a Chevelle..:moonu:
