    Chill...You know I am just yankin' your chain...(you do don't ya???)

I agree with what you said about buyin' your way in. You and I are just alike in one way: We are builders. I am much more impressed with a car that someone has put their heart and soul into than one that daddies trust fund bought(what ever the brand, well, maybe not ferds??) That said, is just me or are ferds becoming the chebbies of the new milennium? What with all the hoover attachments out there for the rustangs??

And I dare ya not to call me "different":Dou:

I can't think of any brand vehicle that doesn't have at least one model I would love to have. (Ricers don't count!. I can't even tell them apart, muchless want one)

I'll always have a soft spot for classic Mustangs, especially the fastback body styles in the late 60's early 70's
Plenty of Mopars I really like (Cudas, Chargers, etc..)
Tons of BOP's I could dream about
Can you say Hornet X hatchback? :gt: Sorry, my old one kinda grew on me. I'd like to have a real nice one someday.
And even a whole list of Chevies I'd add to my stable if money wasn't an issue.

However.. money IS an issue for us, so since Buicks are my true love, any classic cars in the future are almost certain to be Buicks. (Unless I fall into some awesome deal I just can't pass up on some "brand x")

But as far as I'm concerned, just about any musclecar from the 60's and 70's is cool in my boat!
    :TU:

btw.. Dave, I've seen "that guy" before, and know just what you're talking about. Since you can buy just about anything you want for "pennies on the Buick dollar", some of those guys just go out and buy all the "bolt-ons" they can get and end up with gobs of money in a terrible combination and haven't a clue what they're doing.

A good friend of mine bought a late 70's Malibu (about like what Ethan posted) last year real cheap. It has a SBC in it and a TON of real high dollar parts. The previous owner must have spent a fortune building the car. The interior is stripped, full cage, transbrake, alot of fiberglass panels, the whole 9 yards. It only ran high 12's and the seller was just fed up with it.

After my friend bought it, he spent about a month just sorting everything out on it, and was running low 11's. Thats almost 2 seconds! I don't think he spent more than $50 while "sorting it out" either.
I think he bought it from "that guy".
I wish I could find "that guy" around here with a Buick for sale!

    Chevy's owned

I have owned a couple of Chevies over the years that I considered to be special cars.

Chevy #1 - As of this month, it will be 20 years ago that I bought a 69 Z-28 Camaro that I still have to this day. Had 50K miles on it when I bought it and today it has 57K miles. It has been blueprinted and balanced with 12:1 compression with headers. Factory black with dark blue interior. Front/rear spoilers with an endura bumper. It probably won't outrun any of my Buicks but it is still exciting to wind it thru the gears! See attached pic.

Chevy #2 - 1970 LS6 Chevelle - Bought it in 1988 with 54K miles and sold it in 1996 to buy my GSX. Fathom Blue w/white stripes, 4 speed, bucket seats, and Polyglas tires. Nice tight strong car!

Although I am partial to Buicks(Have been since 1982), I like all of the old musclecars.

    I had a few. 61 Corvair (first car), 65, 66, 71, 80, 95ZR1 Corvettes, 77 Z28 Camaro, 87, 95 Blazers. Whoa, that's a bevy of Chevies. The ZR1 was something like eighth to last one made.

I must confess that I have had my share of Chevies and liked every one of them. Some were more exciting than others however.Still think with fondness of the two Corvairs I once owned-one a 4 carb hoppedup six and the other a 400+hp mid-engine small block. That one would go and would even put my 500+hp GS on the trailer by a long shot. Also have had two full-size pickups-one a 5 speed Vortec and the latest a 5.3 LS1 type motor. Both were/are great performers.Have also had two Berettas, two Corsicas and even a '66 Belair 283.The weirdest and worst Chevy I ever had was a 1981 "Iraqi taxi".GM built a bunch of 4 door,v6 a/c equipped,3 speed on the floor Malibus for export to Iraq.Because of problems in Iraq they never got shipped from the port of Halifax here in N.S.They were then sold locally-a weird amalgam of an automobile! They all sold because GM virtually gave them away.I got one that was well used.Kept it for about two weeks-got my money out of it-400 bucks as I recall.Rod

That sure brings back some memories.

I was working at a GM dealership back then and we sold a pile of those cars. I seem to remember there was quite a few built for export which were then sold across Canada. We probably sold 50 or 60 here.

I've often though I should be out to the auto wreckers and pulling out the clutch pedals and linkages from every one I find. Anyone wanting to convert a Regal to a standard trans could use the pieces.:bglasses:
