    Ok, OK I am pumped!

    here how it went down:

At the Pre-Kick Off Party for Hot August Nghts I won "Best of Show"over 299 other cars, composed of street rods, pro-street, t buckets, stock, modified stock, resto-mods, etc. The field was limited to 300 cars due to the size of the parking lot, and appromx. 250 cars were turned away. I won over $500 in prizes and a nice Blue ribbon.

Hot August Nights started Aug 9 and at the Nugget Casion I again won Best Of Show and $500 bens!

Then on Tues at the downtown casino Show and Shine I did not win anything.

On Wed I won Best of Show at the Nugget Casino ( one of two of the largest casinos), another $500 bens over 400+ cars!

On Thursday I won Best of Show at the Grand Sierra Casino ( second largest casino in Reno) and won another $500 bens! There were 500 + cars on two show fields.

I was told at this show by the judges that I should enter my car in the Sparks/Nugget Casino "All GM Show" on Friday and especially the seperate "Best Unrestored and Restored Stock Car" competion, as I would be very competive,. I told them I was already planning on doing that! Sooo I won the "Best Restored Stock Car" over 338 other cars. This is considered the second highest award for Hot August Nights week. The judges select 200 cars in the first round to lessen the cars to be judged. So I was pitted against 138 "cream of the crop" cars. Which included cameros, corvettes, shelby cobras/mustanges, hemi-cars, various models and years, etc. from Calf, Nev, AZ, Washington, Oregon, and I WON ! How about $1,000 Bens! The "icing on the cake" was the fact that the judges who judged my car were the permenant judges for the Harrah Car Collection Museum!

Blew me away, so all in all I did better than my expections before I came here. WoW! $2500 in cash and prizes. This is for my fellow Olds owners, my fellow Olds former employees, and Mr. R. E. Olds!

Rocket On fellow ladies and gents,
    dave b.

Oh, Thank You Dave H. Big compliment from you my fellow Olds employee!

Tried to contact you last year when I was in your area. I lost your tel # s when my cell phone crapped out. I ran in to Casey Marks at the Muscle Car Drags and asked him to contact you with my number, but I guess he never did!

I am not going that way this year as the farthest I intend to go east is Omaha, Ne and then head south towards Florida arriving in mid December.

I hope before long you and I can get together! You are on my "bucket list' ! LOL I know you understand what I just said.

take care my friend and be healthy,

    dave b.

BUQUICK: thanks for your recognition that I do DRIVE IT! I put 1,000+ miles on it last years east of the Miss. tour. Some of my friends think I am crazy driving it cause ot the high level of restoration when I finished it last July 2010. You can tell that the restoration is not as fresh as last yr. Me driving it on this yrs tour west of the Miss. will degrade it more. I didn't do this car as trailer queen. I even bang some gears ever so often!

Thanks Brian, you know it! How about 15 years worth!

Sat down after last weeks wins and just for sh** and giggles I added up all the reciepts and added 10% for inflation and I may have lost some receipts. Total including purchase of car, travel back and forth twice to Eaton Rapids, MI for Bob Reeve CarShine Restoration to do the body and paint, so I have $45,000 cash in the nuts and bolts of the restoration. Add 1400 hours in labor for chassis restoration and 400 hours of labor in assembly of complete car @ $30.00 hourly rate, you can add $54,000 in labor + $45,000 + 10% (of $45,000= $4500) you can see the total cost is approx $104.000!

I wish I had a dollar for every hour I spent glass beading every nut, bolt, washer, clip, bracket, screw, etc. myself. lol

Now I did not "over restore this car". If I did it would have been a lot cheaper! How about the time I spent building a 3'X1'X4' deep plastic lined wooden troth, with 18" of water with 6" of black chassis paint floating on top of the water so I could "dip" (not spray) my chassis parts! So I did it as the factory did.

    How anal is that! LOL
