    Joe,
When we judge the cars, we look for year correct parts, that's why a 70 intake on a 71 car will not work. But, if you have 71 heads on a 70 car, there is no visual difference, so no points would be deducted. Now if you put 72 heads on a 70 car they have the year cast into them, so you can tell they are wrong.

We also do not look for date coded or numbers correct pieces, we are not buying the car, just making sure it is year/plant correct. That's how we level the playing field.

Joe, I still think you won an award.

Joe, I think you have a GREAT Buick, but it is done by you and for you! Trying to have it judged by any set of rules will NEVER work. The 400 point system was devised to bring the Buicks back to the way they were from the factory. I have been to every national meet since 1971, and have watched the BCA try many different judging systems. I have not had a car judged since 1989, and if you look at the registration form, you will find that you can go and display your Buick for less money, as you don't pay for the trophies. I had my 37 coupe in the modified class, and helped judge the class. I put it in for display only ,as I did not think a judge should be eligible for an award. The "Modified "division is a work in progress, and the judging will be drastically changed for next year. Don't give up on the BCA, as they are really trying to get younger members, and we have a lot to learn! I have not gone to a banquet for at least 10-12 years. My wife and I went out for dinner in Batavia with Roberta and her family, and we had prime rib ,lobster, and drinks for what you paid for the banquet. I don't have my cars judged, because there are too many judges that don't know what they are looking at! Until the BCA can recruit enough competent judges, they must rely on the people that volunteer. They do have some very good judges, but they are in the minority, and there are some that operate on the "GOTCHA" method. They delight in banging you for the slightest infraction. :spank:
