3 @$%^#$%^#^ hours of screwing with the fuel pump to carb line :af: :af: :af: :af: :af: :af: :af: :af: :af: :af: it makes me wonder why I'm doing this. So finally after getting it bent correctly so it doesn't interfere with the alternator it's time to check connections. looks good. lets try and start her up and see what happens.
Ah, the sweet sounds of a 400ci Poncho being fed by my freshly rebuilt and correct q-jet. THATS what it's all about :beer :beer :beer :beer :beer :beer :beer :beer :beer and she sounds pretty good too. At least to the ear. No rough idle. no leaks. Everything seems fine. Start checking some things. Uh oh. now a small fuel leak, shut her off.

but finally. FINALLY some good luck.

Tomorrow, road test after making sure the leak is gone.

I went to sleep this afternoon, and installed the WRONG exhaust system.........

    1. carb
    2. distributor
    3. fan
    4. fuel line
    5. trans mount
    6. drive shaft loop
    7. correct exhaust manifolds and side pipes
    8. alternator
    9. driveshaft

well, the list is down to single digits, anyways..........

Itsy- bitsy thing with the ignition system still undone. Looks like business as usual. Can always run it the way it was.

Judge just needs a wipe down and unwedged from the garage. Easier than it sounds from were it is parked.

Truck and trailer still stolen by Rich I should see them Wednesday to clean and wax.

Javelin is at the shop being aligned for my nephew. Everything seems to be accomplished including an unscheduled change in the diff. The posi seemed roached and had a spare almost new AMC ltd slip with a 3.54 gear sitting around so in it went. The gear that came out was interesting. The window sticker states a 3.15 ltd slip. The tach said no. The single weakly spinning tire said no. I guessed a mistake was made at the factory and it got the standard 2.87 peg leg. Nope not even that good some joker threw in an open 2.73 somewhere along the line. It will spin two tires now and even put a bark out with second. Much improved. Still no revs past 4500 with the untouched original motor. Dan suggests I should be happy as 4500 is good for a factory AMC.

The BAD news is the LS6. Larry dragged me over on Sunday at 8:00 pm. "The motor made a funny noise". When I got there and saw the world class stripes up the drive I was not surprised. Heck if you hit your child it will cry too. Anyhow the motor sounded um not good with a noise up high around the #7 cylinder. I check the lash, springs for breakage, bent push rods... Nothing. Other than the noise all seemed to sound right. Drian oil, cut open oil filter and nothing. Relube motor and put a screw driver to the ear, noise on #5, louder at #7 and loudest on bell housing. Ah the original factory torque converter died? Remove inspection plate. Really loud now. Yep must have broke something inside converter. Load car up to put it on a lift and enlist Rich for late night to pull the trans... Drop trans out, and put exhaust back on just to make sure it is not the motor. Ugly noise REALLY REALLY loud. No. 7 definitly. Trans damped noise but acted as echo chamber. While still on lift drop oil pan, check everything, pull some rod caps... Nothing. Already 1:30 am so we quit. Pull motor last night, remove head, allen screw from the carb housing for the choke shaft/blade that IRE used when going through the NOS carb was ingested. About 18 good kiss marks in the 074 head and equal amount in piston. Cylinder wall fine. Dead for the race. Dropped off at machine shop at lunch time. IRE is not being very responsive to our desire for them to review the mess.

Thrashing Larry's W30 now. It decided to cough up all its brake components between last fall and now. Leaky wheel cylinders, master cylinder and booster all decided they had given their all. Why? :spank:

No wonder my cars never get done.

Ouch....... sorry to hear about Larry's car.......

    that really blows..........

My son called at noon, said "Dad, there is a huge puddle of gas under the Corvette."

    "are you sure son?"

"Yeap. I made everyone get out of the yard because I thought the car was going to blow up."

"OK, son, go downstairs and turn off the power to the garage..........."

I thought PS racing was going to be fun and cheap :Do No: :Do No:   :Do No: :Do No:

Back together and running. Just need to clean it and the truck up. Major project on the truck. Trailer just may have to wait. Needs a new paint job.

We are still playing "swap the crankshaft" with the red Cuda'. It may show up, it may not.
The green hemi car is ready, so long as I don't need a temp guage, oil gauge, dipstick tube, front tire.......I better get off my butt.

Larry's car could have been much worse. It will be ready to roll quickly.

Jav done and ready to be driven the three + hours.

Tires here for the W30. Brakes mostly tied up.

    Judge ready to be loaded.

Larry learned nothing from the LS6. He tried to match the stripe job from the LS6 with the Jav. I think I will have to ground him and bring all the cars to my house. He simply will not behave.

For all the craziness we are going to make it with solid finished rides.

well, I think the GT-37 is about as ready as it's going to be. I wired up the tach this evening but no worky. :Do No: either the tach doesn't work when I was told it does. Or I have a bad ground. Or the 12v switched wire isn't really switched. I used the same wire from the electric choke from the wrong carb I took off. I'm going to eat some dinner and maybe play around with it later. Perhaps I'll get the insane bonehead award or something like that for running a manual trans car with no tach. I haven't tried to test the rev limiter (as far as I know) in the XR-i, so at least I have that.

I got my stalling issue fixed. I'll be leaving early Friday morning. I have to rent a trailer this year cause my old neighbor who loaned me his trailer for free was involved in a accident. An elderly gent ran into him and the forward axle is bent. Ouch!
