Yup, I could see the pic's yesterday but not this morning. I do need to ask what the W17 option is? I understand the buckets seats, but the custom foundation compartment shelf and custom seats backs, those i'm unsure of?
I sold Joe a NOS 66 switch pitch trans 30+ yrs ago. Enjoyed talking Motor Wheel with him. Interesting that he put a roll bar in.......
My first thought too. Do we know whether it is lacquer or base clear? Looks base/clear to me and very well executed. I believe I recognize Joe's name from early GSCA days and love the story with the exception of the flood and illness of course. Hat's off to Hot Rod for a great article and fantastic photos. The window sticker is in such nice shape I thought it was a reproduction. The cool part is the SCO number on it and the build sheet matching. I don't think I've ever seen that before. As good as the the newer pictures of the car are - did you guys notice the black and white picture is from "back in the day"? JUST A FRICKIN' AWESOME PICTURE!
I have that on my window sticker. I think it is just a description that goes along with the bucket seats. The compartment shelf is just the better "mesh" style speaker shelf I think.
Your testimony counts sir! It looks somewhere between 1970 Desert Gold Poly and 1972's Burnished Copper Poly on my computer monitor. Light obviously makes a difference because the Hot Rod outdoor pictures really don't look like the same car as the indoor shot above.
Just absolutely beautiful !!!! I got to thank Joe at the show for the wheel center blanks that made my set of 5inch B.C. Spyders possible. This is the PREMIER Muscle Car show in this country.....so many nice examples of vintage muscle cars. The 69 GS invitational cars were all excellent and represented our Buick heritage with class ! Peace WildBill
Very nice car and color. When was Joe Guzek’s Cinnamon Firemist ‘70 S1 built? As the article explains "the factory" did not to paint his car the SCO color Fire Glow left over from '69. Mark M. (GSXnut) shared pics with me a while ago of a '70 GS S1 he used to own which was factory painted the Fire Glow (paint from the spring '69 Buick promotion). As I recall, his data plate had one single 'Q' shown for paint and the car came from the Denver area, if I recall correctly. The letter 'Q' was assigned in spring '69 to the Fire Glow paint color. The car had the Dark Saddle interior and a Dark Brown vinyl top. I wonder if Buick's experience with custom order paint car like Mark's became a reason Buick resisted painting Fire Glow at some point in '70?
